I'd actually like to see DPS parses for this. As a healer, tanks aren't squishy on bosses normally, its trash where it gets interesting. So 'tankiness' isn't really a concern there, from a healer point of view. So damage output is a bit more important in theory (of course some bosses are different). If more MP allows for a higher DPS rotation, I'd like to see proof of it.

Otherwise its a bandaid fix for a bad or lazy playstyle, in which case this would be, 'meh'.
