Don't make claims like this if it's only based on subjective feeling. You need to compare the actual increase in mana regen to the DPS gains from lost secondary stats. Before you do, your words mean nothing.

It increases max mp, because of dark side you have 0 natural regen.

This is incorrect. You do have natural mana regen with Darkside up. However, outside sources have no effect on you, such as Ballad or Mana Turret. You can test this by putting up Darkside and comparing how your mana behaves in and out of battle. In battle your natural regen is lower and you will lose MP, however, outside battle you will actually gain MP as the regen is stronger.

Also darkside scales off of your total MP so it doesn't matter if you have more or not it won't make any difference, you'd just be purposefully gimping yourself.
Edit: Nvm i'm wrong it scales by level, though having slightly more MP still doesn't make up for all the dps loss.

From what I remember off the top of my head, 1 piety give likes 7 MP? Meaning 77 MP per rank V materia, 16 slots can have rank V materia, meaning that's about 1232 extra MP, possibly an extra 154 MP if you have it on your weapon's two slots (If it has them).
