If you're playing on a PS4, how would they ban you for using voice chat?
Did coil without voice chat, did up to a2s without voice chat.
One thing I noticed after starting using voice chat - once had my computer crash while playing so I lost voice chat for that session. I was able to focus so much more on the mechanics and the fight instead of constantly listening to queues and such.
So there is a benefit to both. But I feel it depends on the person.
(super serious)I don't know what to put here so I've put this here as a placeholder until I figure it out.(super serious)
Recruitment code if you are starting out: FTB8JBQ5
Out of curiosity, how far have you progressed without using voice chat?
Would be interesting to hear if there even are groups that have done all Savage floors without any voice communication at all.![]()
I did both, prefer with voice cause usually it funnier
People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
I am not really sure if I should post since I dont really raid Alexander and only done Bahamut unsynch but I did leave my old raid group (FC group) after not wanting to use voice chat anymore. Yes it can make things easier but at the same time I noticed that people kinda get too used to being called out and did not react fast enough on their own without it. Also I disliked the drama going on there..if you have more than one "alpha" person in voice chat it can be stressful really fast. I also noticed that I get a headache if I stay in voice chat while fighting since there are way to many voices which makes concentration even harder..
So for me I am kinda more negative towards it but I can understand that its easier for others. In the end people should know the fight to down it and should not need call outs and I also thing that making mistakes and wiping your group might give you more reason to not make the same mistake again and be more attentive to the fights.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

the fault is sony, because ps4 playes cant uses voice chat software from third parties
My g/f and i do best w/o voice. Mostly her because of her hearing sensitivities, voice chats also distract her from the game.
Then you have deaf and mute players. And the fact as someone said mmo raiding existed before voip.
Can it be fun? ya. Can it be intimidating? yes. As long as people are accepting of either, idc. The second you harass a person over it, that to me is a no no.
I personally don't join learning parties or progress parties if voice chat is mandatory. Being able to say words out loud doesn't mean you're a better player.
It's not rocket science.
Communication keeps everyone on the same page. It makes it easier to explain mechanics and discuss strategies.
But obviously if you know the fight well or every one plays to a predictable standard, then you don't need to communicate verbally if at all during the fight.
