    My g/f and i do best w/o voice. Mostly her because of her hearing sensitivities, voice chats also distract her from the game.

    Then you have deaf and mute players. And the fact as someone said mmo raiding existed before voip.

    Can it be fun? ya. Can it be intimidating? yes. As long as people are accepting of either, idc. The second you harass a person over it, that to me is a no no.

    I personally don't join learning parties or progress parties if voice chat is mandatory. Being able to say words out loud doesn't mean you're a better player.

    It's not rocket science.

    Communication keeps everyone on the same page. It makes it easier to explain mechanics and discuss strategies.

    But obviously if you know the fight well or every one plays to a predictable standard, then you don't need to communicate verbally if at all during the fight.
