Quite, especially if they're the sort to put the code for the minion up on E-Bay a few months/years later for a couple hundred dollars. A, "pretty scummy thing to do," to those who want the minion as well as Square Enix. I may or may not be correct in presuming SE has a No Re-Sale clause for purchases like that.

This is the advert that you are claiming would be false. Please tell me where in description it says the words "exclusive". Lawsuits don't go through under player assumption, and SE's legal department would not shoot themselves in the foot by claiming that they can never redistribute the code ever again.

While it would be a bad idea morally to put the minions on the mogstation, adding it to another exclusive would only allow players another (exclusive) shot at getting it and would not affect anything. Legally though, SE can do what they like.

If this pack did exist, I think it would be a cool idea to add these classic merchandise minions.

All of the codes expire, CDs, statues, plushes- all of it. Also, all the items are just listed as having a bonus code- nothing "limited." It's literally we will send you a code for this as many times as there is adequate demand for it until these codes are set to expire. They don't even say they won't ever run them again.

Ah, I wasn't aware that they had nothing that would allude to false advertising. I wonder if some of the older stuff had it though. We'll have to see. For those that don't, yes, it becomes a moral issue only, not a legal issue. But I was under the assumption that they had the text that advertised specifically that these were limited run and couldn't be reproduced in the future. So for that I will concede defeat. So yeah, we'll see what happens. I still don't agree with it on a moral level though.

Would you be able to link the announcement page if at all possible (I completely believe you, but I want to see the context of the page), though I do still think there is a massive difference between a new limited time package deal and mogstation. These items aren't like 1.0 items, they are merchandise items, and it wouldn't be much different to them releasing a new batch of the same product with new codes (which they should totally do, and would do nothing to hinder the exclusivity as people would be buying the exact product that you did).

I'd like to hear your thoughts on the differences between these two.

I would love for these to be made available in other ways as well. I'm a legacy player and I played through all of 1.0. I've purchased basically everything from the SE store pertaining to XIV. The only thing I actually miss is I forgot to redeem the Primog minion in time which kills me a bit. I have zero issues at all with anything being put on Mog Station or even being made available again.

For example, why not continue to package the CDs with updated codes for merchandise? Wouldn't that only increase sales? If its because this is older merchandise, etc, its a matter of generating new codes and slapping a sticker or something to their current stock. There. Done.

Either method honestly would be nice and welcome. I think SE's sorta shooting themselves in the foot by selling all this merchandise with old, expired codes. I know for a fact that I'd rebuy the stupid CD to get another Primog.

Square should instead decide whether they want to actually be a subscription based MMO or whether they want to go f2p.
