Will still need a rewrite. 2.0-4.0 is a whole story, not a collection of short stories with not much connection between them.
Or we will get a chronology fragmented story like in FF XIII-2, where you start with fighting for Ala Migho, and then enter your first time Eorzea, following with a raid to the garlean capitol, and at the end to fight against Nidhogg.

I havent looked nor made a post in this forum for a very long time. I just have to ask... Why is this a real issue with nearly 40 pages?
It's not an issue. People don't understand how an optional item shop works. The items put on the shop are not ones that they made and were like "screw the players, put it on the item shop." These items wouldn't be put in the game if the item shop didn't exist. The items themselves would not exist.
I take it you don't really know how GW2 manages story. Or... any other MMO. If you want the whole story, you play through the quests, but starting the new expansion should NOT require having completed the past ones. It doesn't require jumbling up the story at all. You are just able to pick up the expac's starting quest at your liesure (so long as one is of the appropriate level). Will still need a rewrite. 2.0-4.0 is a whole story, not a collection of short stories with not much connection between them.

This is kind of a side topic, but the jump potions are just another symptom of wanting to simply use the mogstation as an easy, cash-grabbing out.

No, they are a necessity brought about by having multiple expansions and the level cap raising. Nearly every major MMO in existence (and most minor ones) have a level skip option after a few level cap raises.

I believe Yoshida already said no to that because it would require an entire rework of the quest system anyways, but it wasn't exactly to that but it was to a question about redoing quests.

It would take a lot of debugging, though, so if you cannot wait… Make a new character.

♥ Baby, tell me, what's your motive? ♥

GW2 runs on a different engine and GW2 offers a free jump to lvl 80 if you own HoT. FF14 is actually one of the few MMOs which don't offer such a service in the west at this point.
We don't know if FF14's engine is really flexible enough to separate the MSQ and maintain its quest flagging and phasing. Do remember things change an unlock as you progress. Let's just say that in SB we get sent to the Rising Stones. Would that mean starting there would unlock it? What would that mean for the flagging process during the 2.X MSQ that leads to it unlocking?
I don't think its a simple as 'just dividing it into discreet chunks'.
Levels also are fairly meaningless in GW2, so the level jump is not comparable. It is simply an example of how a coherent story can be presented without walling people off from participating in content that they'd like to engage in. It's not even the only example, as every MMO I've seen that does story expansions works in this way or similar.
As far as things like the Rising Stones, that would simply be unlocked when you get to the point in the story that you need to go there. It can be treated like any other phased zone in MMOs, and it wouldn't be all that confusing to the player.
But in those MMOs, they do not also require you to complete all of the old expansion story prior to participating in the current expansion content. The STORY JUMP potion is a cheap cash grab.
