I'd like more shaded effects. Like the ombre hair.

Wrong, same game, same sub, cross platform.
You knew what you were getting into.

I can explain one of the issues. Item data, they tell us, is already substantially larger than other games. Each item has a lot of attributes like meld(x5), condition, spiritbond, dye color, glamor projected. Adding more things like dye color #2, dye color #3 or glamor #2 for a different job to every item will bloat item data further. The memory issue is a server-side concern, where they must frequently back up all character data to prevent any rollbacks in case of crash/disconnect. If the amount of data that needs to be frequently backed up becomes too large, the strain on the servers could cause instability, errors, server crash. There are often technical reasons like these which interfere with potential features which otherwise may sound convenient and desirable to the users.
i think i remember SE/yoshi mentioning some time ago that the servers save and backup all the data ever 15-30 seconds. this is why the datacentre or world can suddenly crash and we rarely get rollbacks of any kind. if we ever get more glam features i think it'll be when they do a major hardware upgrade on all of the servers on all datacentres.
on topic. i think we can use something like Main Dye/Colorant + Sub Dye/Colorant or every dyeable set to make it simple to implement and smaller additional size for the character data also. but if they ever add anytypeof/more dye customization that would mean they have to rework the palette of every existing armor that's currently ingame so that's a lot of work to be done too.
I would love to have more dye channels for our gear.
At least two...

Yeah, I do hate that dyeing my gear equates to basically dumping a bucket of paint on it. I'd love more colors per piece.

Most MMO's allready use Dual Dye systems like Guildwars 2 for example who even goes as far as 3 channel dye's.

I always figured Square enix to be NR 1 on MMO/RPG platforms so maybe its time to reclaim the crown?

One solution would be to create multiple versions of the same piece where the undyable part is a different color. You pick the version with the color you want and then dye the dyable part whatever you want. Of course, they'll have to create a ton of new pieces, but that will eliminate character data bloat, I believe. I too, hate all the brown in the starter gear. If I could have a version where the brown part would be black or blue, then I could dye the rest whatever I want and have it closer to how I like it.

That is basicly why im annoyed Antonio.. if they had made that brown pure black I wouldn't have bothered as other colors would come out looking nicer.
But unfortunately that is not how it went... and it needs to be fixed soon to keep up to date with competing MMO's who all seem to have this option.
