One solution would be to create multiple versions of the same piece where the undyable part is a different color. You pick the version with the color you want and then dye the dyable part whatever you want. Of course, they'll have to create a ton of new pieces, but that will eliminate character data bloat, I believe. I too, hate all the brown in the starter gear. If I could have a version where the brown part would be black or blue, then I could dye the rest whatever I want and have it closer to how I like it.

That is basicly why im annoyed Antonio.. if they had made that brown pure black I wouldn't have bothered as other colors would come out looking nicer.
But unfortunately that is not how it went... and it needs to be fixed soon to keep up to date with competing MMO's who all seem to have this option.

Just happened to see someone with the Yuna summoner sleeves a bit ago...

Completely dissapointed with how they dye.
The main color is the thread at the top, the rest of the sleeve is dyed a much lighter tone of the dye used.

They're pretty much only useable as a light colored item.

If we could dye the thread and sleeves seperatly there wouldn't have been an issue.

That is exactly my point, if they gave each armor at least 2 levels of dye (one for metal/leather armor and one for the cloth underneath). Having 3 color levels like Guildwars 2 does would be even more lovely.. but If they make it 2 instead of 1... that would be an awsome upgrade by itself!

I just want to be able to exclude certain parts when dyeing something. The original bunny bustier bow stays red when dyed but the chief bunny bustier bow dyes with the rest of the top.

SE and other will always use it a a excuse why something can't be done and was even joked about before the PS3 support being ended as announced. It was oh because of PS3 limitations and now that PS3 and going away it will just be oh PS4 limitations.

Assuming that the limitation is PS4, what exactly is the limiting factor for the dye? Is everything not a rendered model with colors slapped on? I can't see how dying 2 parts of an outfit differently would be anymore strenuous as it already is on that system. Is it not essentially the same?

Perhaps the issue is that they don't have such a system in place for that to be possible yet. Or, more likely in my mind, is that the issue would be having to go back in all old models and remesh all of them to allow a multi-colored system. (Since if this were to be implemented it would be assumed that all dyeable items would need to have this change and currently models that are dyeable are programmed at the moment to be colored on specific parts of it.)

I hope I wrote that clearly

I'm more than ready to abandon all previous sets and just move forward with multi-channel dying on all new gear but that memory limitation thing is just depressing.
