Who cares what WoW did, this is ffxiv...a totally different game.^^ It's like comparing classical music to trance. Sure they're both music but different types. Yoshida should listen to himself and his vision.

As for how disappointed I am ...I'm honestly not disappointed at all. So I would say 1? Not sure what to expect but that's fine by me. Hoping they fix the jobs so I can play more then SMN again ^^ Not really a fan of how every DPS has some kind of buff we have to upkeep. Ugh, BLM is so frustrating lol. Won't touch BRD anymore either with the cast bar..so hopefully that stuff gets changed..

New primals we haven't seen or heard of, let alone be mentioned in some odd, abstract text bubble on an NPC, even fight them for God's sake.

Swimming is exactly the same as flying, yes. You 100% need wings and a plane to get through the water. You're also going to see the EXACT same views as if you were in the sky, because we've apparently done this already.

A melee, and a caster for DPS, which we did not receive in Heavensward. As it is, we have gained one new job per role; a melee, a physical ranged support, a caster, a healer and a tank. This complaint is empty.

You've already been told we hadn't received a housing district in HW, so I'll ignore this.

    1. 2.x and 3.x confirmed to have already had Doma, Othard, Susano, Lakshmi, the Ananta, and the Kojin. We've also apparently known about Kugane and Shirogane as well. Please...
    2. You already got the info about why we don't have new customization, and to be honest, I honestly doubt they are 100% saying no, but likely we won't get it until 5.0.
    3. We got Scrips, look how that came out, also, jump the gun much? We are still 4 months away from release, and things like crafting and such don't get announced until much later anyways, so being impatient is not going to help you.
    4. Add something unique to glamour? What's that supposed to mean? We won't know what gear and such we're getting outside of AF for a good reason, that stuff is not finalized, if you paid attention to the art panel they had at Fanfest, they are still tweaking even AF gear. The game isn't fully done yet, so I don't see why you need to jump the gun and leap into disappointment.

And there's nothing wrong with playing another game on the side? When FFXIV gets boring, I go play Warframe and soon Revelations online, but it's not something to cry about when you sate yourself with other games because the primary game does not supply what you want, and if it doesn't, why are you even playing it in the first place? It's a legitimate question.

Yet the OP and many others seem to think that it somehow can and should do just that, when it simply wasn't on the table at all.

It's like crying about the cadence of patch content updates.

I honestly think that what it generally comes down to is that some players have the expectation that FFXIV will be like other games that they like, instead of a thing unto itself. I think anyone doing that would be better coming to terms with ffxiv as it is.
You'd be right and wrong though, the game needs to have a revaluation of those older systems, people have been asking for the loot lockout to be changed, a smart development team looks at feedback and finds away to expand on the current system, or overhauls it. You say an expansion can't rewrite the core? Then explain how they completely reworked BRD, they had no problems reworking the core of my class since they couldn't find a way to balance it.

You can't expand a game without looking at something older, while the weekly lockout is ok it needs to be expanded, just like everything else in the game, it has become dated. I don't think the community is asking to much to ask for older systems to be redone, could you honestly say you wouldn't like the character creation to be more in depth? Or more waypoints to be made? Every aspect of the game should be looked at during an expansion period, and I frankly don't see a problem with people voicing there issues with what is being presented in this expansion.

Once again (like many others), you are not thinking over the horizon. Yes, all those things are nice and will be implented, but what will their real use mean to us?
We will play Stormblood again for 2 years. With every patch we will most likely get again 2 new dungeons for our roulettes, 4 raids, a 24man raid with killing trash and bosses and so on.
    • Will the Ananta's and Kojin's Primal be our Ravanna and Bismarck 2.0 remake for SB before they release the raid content few weeks later?
    • Are the maps going to stay empty like right now?
    • Is anybody even idling in Ishgard?
    • Is anybody going to Azys La without the need of gathering/FATE'ing/questing?

Yet, this thread is called "how disappointed are you so far with Stormblood news!". Did you notice it? Its about current news. They had 3 Fan Festivals to give us more details, make us pay 30€/$ for every stream!! (not talking here about tickets, since well.. being there gave you more opportunity to do things)
And what did you really get? Some little detail how the RDM and SAM will work and thats it.
Did you get any detail by watching the Fan Fest about the changes of the Battle system? No. Will we still keep our trashy cutscenes with nodding and smiling via our emote-tool? Yes. Will our characters look like dublicated dolls on newer regions? Yes. Sometimes I really wonder what makes people say those unnecessary things. Im not here to complain, Im here to give ideas to expand and improve some of the features. In the end, all we want is a better game atmosphere.

Huhhh, what?! Im not saying or stating that the bard got a core rework, but it definetly not remained same for bard since 3.0. Did you ever play Bard before HW, friend?

For the amount that tickets were and people buying the livestream, I have to agree. Most were left with little more than even more questions, didnt really seem to explain any of the details most of us were or are concerned with, Heck, before NIN came out we got way more from that 14 hour live stream(watching it in actual combat) It would have been nice to get more clarification on both the system and how exactly the jobs will work or even a little more

I just wish it wasnt going to be the same tombstone grind and relic grind.. and dungeon grind..

I am excited for the new areas, terrified for the job changes, excited for the swimming, and disappointed both the jobs are DPS..

I'm on the bar right I'll say 5.. not disappointed, but not SUPER excited either

As someone who doesn't devour content as it's released, and since we don't know all the details of the expansion just yet, I'll withhold any measure of disappointment until June. Having said that, i'm really, really excited about what I've seen so far - two new jobs look great as does the new content and massive new location to explore. To be honest, the only news I was looking forward to was *something* related to expediting character advancement. Since hitting Level 60 as a BLM, I've been working on a DRK and NIN. The DRK is very easy to level with the insane experience bonuses for running daily roulettes, but the NIN is three to five times much work. I get there is a learning curve to jobs and the game is set up to progress at a certain rate, but there needs to be some way to get DPS's to level faster. Maybe have it so that you must have at least one class at max level to get bonus EXP for roulettes, etc. Dunno. But, hate how much time I have to grind on my NIN.

I would say more than anything I'm about a 8 or a 9 on the trailer alone, and I know this isn't a popular opinion so hear me out while I explain myself.

Compared to the Heavensward Trailer it just feels disjointed. With the Heavensward Trailer, there is a miniature narrative going on that establishes what we're fighting (scary dragon), demonstrates that it's a credible threat (The Warrior of Light can't effectively fight it), it shows what it is threatening (lingering shots of Ishgard and how beautiful, and the clouds turn dark as the dragons attack), as well as showing that the threat can be defeated and the Warrior of Light growing to meet that threat (Dragoon fights off the Dragon threatening the Warrior of Light, Warrior of Light becomes a Dragoon). You get a good feel for what the expansion is going to be about and what you can expect from it.

The Stormblood Trailer on the other hand just feels like two trailers that were smashed together, the Monk Teaser and a Samurai reveal trailer. It doesn't have a narrative through line, it begins with the Warrior of Light as a Monk sparring with the Monk in Red, they charge each other with their fists about to collide as the music swells, giving the feeling that it's about to end and then... it abruptly cuts to the world map, where it lingers on Garlemald looking vaguely ominous in the distance, then to the city underwater, and then it abruptly cuts to a completely unrelated location and the Warrior of Light is now a Samurai before getting a sweeping shot of the new city and then the sunset. It actively feels like it's two trailers, the teaser and a Samurai Reveal trailer cut together. We see the new locales but they don't feel like they're under any threat. If anything it plays up the Garleans not being a credible threat at all, the city doesn't look like it's suffering at all if it's under Garlean occupation, and even when they have the Samurai's back to the wall he just looks amused at their attempt before he effortlessly cuts them down with one swing (which is something he did as a Warrior in the End of an Era trailer). It's just kind of lack luster and disjointed comparatively, you don't feel like anything is at stake, or even that anything is all that threatening.
