Should healers now be allowed to play how they choose to play?

with genuine respect why do you play healer if your dpsing 70% of the time?

By the same token:
In that 70%, what are you doing? If you're doing nothing 70% of the time, why do you play FFXIV?

I am genuinely curious how ppl justify this. When your options are:
A) deal damage
B) overheal
C) do nothing

Why pick B or C, when A is the only beneficial option to your group?
