So on the map that was released I'm noticing Genbu, Byakko, Seiryu and Suzaku hanging out around Doma, but who's the giant walking through the clouds around Garlemald?

Wow. Good eye. I only saw the bird, and assumed Phoenix. But with the other three, it's most likely Suzaku. Interesting. I wonder if we'll get something like FFXI's sky.So on the map that was released I'm noticing Genbu, Byakko, Seiryu and Suzaku hanging out around Doma, but who's the giant walking through the clouds around Garlemald?

Maybe a future primal who knows but i do notice they have the four guardians the black turtle, the white tiger, the blue dragon, and the red phoenix among others that could also be future trials. So on the map that was released I'm noticing Genbu, Byakko, Seiryu and Suzaku hanging out around Doma, but who's the giant walking through the clouds around Garlemald?

There wasn't even the faintest hint that Dancer was being added to the game though lol. Why would that be the thing that makes you quit?Well SE already lost my money, completely depressed dancer will not be added to game, don't even care about the future that was my holdout. Doma and Ala Mihgo just don't sound fun, and Samurai/Redmage are not enough to hold me to this game, Samurai was not fun in ffxi I won't even give it a chance here. Sorry SE You have gone the way of Warlords of Draenor in my eyes, and now maybe it's time to take a few years break or just stop playing altogether.
Good thing SE doesn't need your money, since they're getting plenty of mine =)
I wouldn't be worried about queues. Not everyone wants to try the new jobs right away. Tank and healer mains probably want to get their respective main classes to 70 asap, so they'll still queue normally, or with roulettes quite regularly. One of the healers in my static will do this while I lvl RDM :> I don't expect FATEs and POTD to be a reliable source on launch, just like they did with HW so we don't rush through all lvls without seeing game content until a few patches later.

Support would be an interesting role. But without it, yes there would be more dps in each team. I see that as a good thing though. Firstly there are more people who enjoy the dps role than there are tank and healer oriented people combined, so it would balance the queues a bit. Secondly the way combat is currently designed leans towards using more dps. Off healers dps almost entirely already. Off tanks dps a lot as well. Solo healing or tanking is a common strategy for some content in order to push more dps. Might as well add some variety for actual dps jobs. Then we could see dps comps of 2 STR melee, 2 magic dps and 1-2 physical ranged plus maybe a ninja.
Like how people continued to spam fates in Northern Thanalan because leveling via fates in HW areas wasn't as fast?but its very possible (and far more likely) that the exp gained from POTD past level 60 will not be significant enough to justify leveling through it, especially when we will have new dungeons, fates, and possibly other better ways to level.
If I were the dev team, I would make sure that POTD would not be a viable choice for leveling. That would diminish the usefulness of the new areas almost entirely.
Oooh, shiney...
It was a transition from a small maps world to a huge maps world. Doing the same spamming HW FATEs wouldn't be as efficient as it would take longer to reach, with different altitudes with flying. Northen thanalan was popular because it was small, easy to reach and easy to "leech" by tanks and healers doing aoe heals and aoe enmity, and also a LOT of bots (for the same reason, easily and fast reachable fates).
Exactly. That method, to me, ruined the entire reason why we have new fates in brand new large areas. Those should have been utilized to level from 50-60, but the player base instead wanted to find the fastest & the easiest way to do it, and exploit the mess out of it. It left the new areas practically barren for a while until like level 58 when people would go into the hinterlands to continue leveling.
The same thing will definitely happen with POTD if they scale up the experience you get from it. I don't mind it being viable up to level 60, but past level 60 should be for Stormblood.
It blew my mind to know that Othard is going to be in this expansion. When Yoshi said Stormblood will have "a whole game's worth of content," he meant it literally, since we're getting the east of Eorzea, PLUS a whole continent. I think the biggest clue that we would have Othard in the first place WAS due to the inclusion of swimming. I would've assumed we were going to cross bodies of water somewhere, since Gyr Abania didn't seem to have a lot of large lakes and is mostly mountains.
