Why Ninja is Dex-based...consider what you need to make quick hand signs and it gets easier to grasp.

yeah i don't mind double dps, and was already expecting it. Since they mentioned the battle system changes, it was clear that adding a new healer or tank to the mix was going to make it considerably harder and i would rather see them bring the current 3 per in line before adding in more to the mix. Besides i do agree with them that most ppl that took up DRK or AST were already said role and as a standalone SAM has more mass appeal as a DPS class. That being said was kinda bummed that they didn't touch up on the battle system changes, but as others have pointed out, it could just not be ready to be shown off yet. (come on Yoshi!!!! give accuracy the axe it so clearly deserves! :P)

I'm quite happy that BOTH Red Mage and Samurai are DPS.
Like I've said in a thread I created, there is a deep lack of DPS casters/mage in the game. There are 5 discipline of Magic jobs and 3 are healers and 2 are DPS. For those like me who love to play mage classes/jobs as DPS, you only get 2 here, which sucks. Actually, considering I started playing FF XIV ARR in the closed beta, Arcanists (SMN and SCH) were not in the closed beta, or at launch, so there was only 1 disciple of magic in the closed beta, or at lauch, I could play: Black Mage. Which is exactly what I started with, and I was quite depressed over that... just 1 mage DPS?
There is also a deep lack of swords DPS jobs in the game. Both Paladin and Dark Knight are tank, and even the axe weapon is a tank job, which I also play by the way, mostly to help guildies out, and I don't care about the rest of the players and I'm not helping them out in any way.
The main melee class I like to play is assassin/burglar/thief/rogue/ninja or whatever name they get in games and MMOs, with 2 daggers and stealth and back stabbing. Ninja was added the a 2.X patch which I was happy about.
The second melee DPS I like to play is sword class but so far all of them have been tank. So I'm sure I'm not the only one who wanted to play a sword DPS job as wel.l
As for those complaining about queue time, we're used to it, I read books, I also watch anime, movies, tv shows, takes notes, etc. You're the ones who are probably bored and don't know what to do with yourself while queuing.
Why two DPS?
Tanks - WAR, PLD, DRK
Healers - WHM, SCH, AST
Strength Based DPS - MNK, DRG, -SAM-
Dexterity Based DPS - BRD, NIN, MCH
Intelligence based DPS - BLM, SMN, -RDM-
Now we got 3 of each. Know that's not going to make most people happy, but I know at least a couple of people that'll be thrilled there's a proper sword slinger DPS, now. Two, actually, if you count RDM being a sword slinger.
Pretty much agree with you. There are TOO MANY tanks and healers and not enough of the others: INT and STR, no matter how many tanks and healers can complain about it. After Stormblood the jobs will be balanced, right now they're not.

Haha, wow, Soken really likes Overwatch.
Can someone update the OP so we know what's happening or what's being shown. Cause I'm so lost
Thanks

Right now the stream is interviewing Soken and Koji Fox and it's a fun little conversation filled with instruments, Overwatch, and musical influences.
Samurai DPS job confirmed for Stormblood.
New player cities: Doma, Kugane. Both have heavy Japanese influences. Kugane is very reminiscent of Yokohama.
New residential area to be added later: Shirogane, a far eastern plot.
New beast tribe... Kunoi, I think was the name? Agile turtle people, they place a high value on the idea of trade.
"Revolutions" is the name of the new Uematsu/Calloway track for Stormblood. Whereas Answers and Dragonsong were made with the idea of being told by Gods, Revolutions is from the point of view of humanity. The beat is reminiscent of a national anthem.
Several new dungeons were also shown. One in specific looked much like the Ship Graveyard from Final Fantasy V, and included a ghost ship being helmed by skeletons. Outside of Kugane lays the Ruby Coast, a bay filled with pirates. On Othard lies the Azim Steppe, a vast expansive Calm Lands-like area where Au Ra from various tribes congregate and trade.
I'm sure I'm missing lots of information, so feel free to add on.

And DOUBLED item limit for housing! I'm dying of happiness! T^TNew residential area to be added later: Shirogane, a far eastern plot.
(Also, anyone on Hyperion looking to buy a mansion in the new wards you better stay away from my first class plot in ward 1! I'll fite you!)
I wouldn't be worried about queues. Not everyone wants to try the new jobs right away. Tank and healer mains probably want to get their respective main classes to 70 asap, so they'll still queue normally, or with roulettes quite regularly. One of the healers in my static will do this while I lvl RDM :> I don't expect FATEs and POTD to be a reliable source on launch, just like they did with HW so we don't rush through all lvls without seeing game content until a few patches later.

It blew my mind to know that Othard is going to be in this expansion. When Yoshi said Stormblood will have "a whole game's worth of content," he meant it literally, since we're getting the east of Eorzea, PLUS a whole continent. I think the biggest clue that we would have Othard in the first place WAS due to the inclusion of swimming. I would've assumed we were going to cross bodies of water somewhere, since Gyr Abania didn't seem to have a lot of large lakes and is mostly mountains.

I'm worried about them adding Othard in to be honest. Liberating Ala Mhigo would feel like a major enough accomplishment that'd leave Eorzea stricken with War Fatigue for decades, but Othard as well? Even if it was only part of Othard being reclaimed. It also diminishes future Expansion content possibility, while making it feel like both Ala Mhigo and Doma will be crammed together and neither having the full focus they deserve individually.
