I just read that we are getting a melee sword dps. I for one have always wanted a sword dps since i started play ffxiv with hw. It is why i choose drk as my main as that was closest thing to it. Nevertheless I will still play drk as secondary class just to speed through my dailies hahaha since there will probably be a shortage of tanks

Give it a month or so until the "new shiney" flare dies down than it will be back to the usual, tanks will be tanks, dps will be dps as healer will mostlikely flock back to their healing role.
There will always be a few exceptions to the rule but not big enough to make an impact.

I for one am actually glad that they share the same gear with monk, that way I can see whether SE has made any changes about their utility and flock to samurai if the changes are lacking. :x

DPS queues will be permanently extended. We'll have a ratio of 1/1/3 in a game where most content wants 1/1/2.

Unless they're changing 4 man to 5 man for the expansion? It might not be so bad I guess, 2.X had 2 tank, 2 healers and 6 dps for a long time.

Job ratio does not inherently equal ratio of players playing each job. If it did DpS would be the "in need" role due to the 3/3/7 role ratio we currently have.

After about a month or two, the game will return to the 1/1.5/6 role queuing ratio we currently have.

THey need really add good things to incentive tanking. But really good thing. Not a mount or the "adventurer in need". "Here, you have +2000 giles for being adventurer in need". Yeah, that's... very nice.

I guess they know what they are doing and the tanks will have a HUGE improvement. But really HUGE. Or they will llost a lot of them (Also healers of course).

Because a lot of tanks and healers will try out the new Jobs first even if they eventually go back to tank and healer. Just in my FC there are 2 tanks and a healer who have said they intend to level in Stormblood as a RDM or a SAM regardless of what role it plays.

It will be HW in reverse. It will balance out eventually but to start with you will see sharp shifts in queues. In HW the surge of people trying out DK lead to very short dps queues and dps even being the Adventurer in Need. Stormblood will have the opposite effect with a surge in the number of dps in queues leading to much longer dps queues, at least for probably the first month.

Because a lot of them will switch to RDM/SAM. With not new tank classes, this ones will draw all attention.

People tend to have a main and an alt job that they switch between. And there are tanks that only play tanks because it's the closest to a Sword job there is. So there are tanks that will put the tanking behind them and focus on the new DPS sword job.
