Naturally, as a gladiator, I'll want to know what gear is best for my class. This is the most streamlined way to show that. It also gives that gladiator a benchmark to work up to. Oh, you're like that. Now I understand why you think such a stupidly restricted system is good.

Well unlike you I would rather have options, diversity, and choice.

When you're saying it's more user-friendly for players, what you're saying is that it's more dictated. But I don't want to play a game where everyone is a clone of everyone else under such imposed regulations/instructions.

So buy a set of gear that you can wear on any class? The old gear is still in the game. Sorry, but that's not a very convincing argument for why this system doesn't work for the game. It's only convincing me that you want to look pretty.
I can buy a set of gear for every class. i might not be able to wear it.

So throw some materia on it. Go participate in an instance and get green or blue gear. Dye it (dying's being fixed so don't even bitch at me about the "dying restrictions").

There is more variety than you seem to think.

And yes, I'd rather have a more restricted, but also more streamlined experience. The game's mechanics and content should not suffer because a few people want to wear greaves on their botonists.

Which is why I said buy a set that you can wear on any class. Reading isn't your strong point is it?

The dyeing system is being fixed, and that's because they realised how stupidly restrictive it was. They need to realise the same is true for the rest of the game they messed up on patch 1.19.

And what exactly is participating in an instance going to do? I don't even understand what that has to do with anything. I have to go do an instance to get a R15 sword when I should be able to just buy the R18 one from wards?

There is more variety than you seem to think.
Is there variety or is it restrictively "streamlined"? Make up your mind.

How does the gameplay suffer through the Optimal Rank system? How is this restriction "more streamlined"?

It's pretty rich that you say people have to think twice under the Optimal Rank system before buying gear. "it's confusing" you say. But now it's even worse! Now I have to worry about everything and think twice about everything I buy because I have no idea if I will actually be able to wear any of it on my other classes. I can't even buy a R10+ sword on the market wards without buying a dated one which is way too high for me.
