I don't think your friend not being iLevel 230 the day he hit level 60 is cause for a rework of the iLevel progression system.

    Its a progression system.

No one instantly got to any high iLevel the moment they hit 60. Your friend will just have to put the work in like the rest of us.

I honestly think the real problem is that you're having a tough time convincing your friend to continue playing this game when it seems like he's not really enjoying himself. You shouldn't have to "push" anyone to keep doing something that should be fun for him. This isn't work or school. If your friend couldn't find anything in the game that he enjoyed enough to motivate himself to continue playing without your helping hand, then not even a rework of iLevels is gonna be enough.

yeah i didn't realise hunt where an option for him. As having last done them...about a year ago XD and no one suggested it while we were trying to find ways to get his item level up. be a bit nicer if maybe there was more to suggest doing the hunts.

im not asking for him to be ilevel 230 moment he gets there. I did mix up law and lore but was wondering a way of making it a bit smoother to work it up. Seeing i or anyone around us knew hunts where an option and pretty much only seeing run ather until you get enough script and not do story (stuff he really likes doing) and not being able to do 60 roulette for the daily roulette bonus on things like neverreap cause half the dungeons are locked behind story. Hence why my main idea is make 60 roulette work like level roulette.

Still can run it but limited options on the dungeons (only the ones you have unlocked)

I don't think it can be smoother in this particular case. Please don't push him so fast; if he took his time and did his side quests normally in the first place he would already know about the centurio gear. Let the guy explore and learn and discover a bit before diving straight into grinding scripture and raiding

When are you gonna break to him that there are only about 8 story quests per patch and then he'll get to do nothing but farming the same content over and over for the next 3-5 months?

Did my PvP roulette for the bad PvP gear at the time. (Now its i235, so its a good catch up)
Then a mix between PotD for tomes (mainly accessories bought with tomes).
spot on I always suggest running potd with them to help those level gaps later on and to get their weapon before hitting 60

I think it's quite easy to gear up at 60. As soon as you hit 60, you can buy i150 gear from NPC in Azys La, then run Research Facility, Neverreap and Fractal Continuum (dropping i160 stuff) and progress through level 60 dungeons as your item level raises. Alexander normals can be unlocked at i170, i200 and i230, and none of them have lockouts - same with Weeping City which you can unlock at i205. Lore is really easy to get just by unlocking new stuff and running it for the first time. Weapons are extremely easy to get from PotD. And once you have some Lore / Weeping City gear, you can farm i250 from Creator normal and start working on Shire gear and weekly Dun Scaith loot. I don't see where's the hard part of catching up here?

The only solution is to get rid off that stupid static programming and capping everything!
As long as SE does not create dynamic content, we will have the same problem over and over again...

Calling people elitists for giving good alternatives to gearing up... okay.

The problem with your proposed rework of level 60 roulette is that this is how level 50 roulette (previously high level roulette) used to work back in ARR, it was changed to what it is right now because people would not unlock certain dungeons they deemed "annoying" so they could never get them in the roulette, they changed it so you needed all dungeons unlocked to do the roulette.

The restriction was lifted from these dungeons when it became "level 50 roulette" because it's old content, but for "level 60 roulette" they kept the restriction because it's current content.

The restriction was never lifted from 50s roulette. You still need to unlock and beat every duty in there in order to queue up for it. That includes Keeper of the Lake, so you gotta be near the end of the 2.1-2.55 MSQ stretch.

From what I've been told, the restriction was lifted from Trial Roulette however, likely because of the Hildibrandt trials.
