I don't the Primal is Shinryuu. However, I do remember there being a node in Azys Lla saying that a powerful dragon escaped its bindings a few thousand years ago. Granted, this could have been the one of the other brood siblings of Tiamat there may have been captured

I feel like Rhalgr is likely because of the Ala Mhigo thing (plus being mentioned by npc in the summoning cutscene), but I would be disappointed if true because "Let's summon Lightning Grandpa" has been a plot point at least twice already.

Well... Yeah... Because... You know... That's the point of primals ? All primals have been summoned to "save" their people, because they're the beliefs of a people made into flesh. Their hopes, dreams and hate crystallize into a god-like figure that will solve the people's problem.

So yeah, I think the primal will be Rhalgr, as Ysayle was Shiva. It will not be the god itself, but the god hateful mhigans prayed for as they were killed by garleans, because that's how primals are born... Maybe it will look like a summoning from previous FF games, probably shinryuu because the main source of aether was niddhog's eyes and not simple crystals, but it will be, it will represent Rhalgr, in the lore of the game, in my opinion... Especially considering mhigans have considered for a long time summoning their primals.

I'd be really disappointed if we fight another dragon, though. The dragonsong is over, and a corrupted Rhalgr is a much more interesting deity than Nidhogg who's just hateful for the sake of being hateful.

So yeah, Griever-style Rhalgr for me...

Comes out of the seal and holds a staff with two empty holes in it, and puts nidhoggs eyes in them, queue remix of thordans song, dodge mechanics mercilessly as 12 different ala mighans of reknown do different attacks on your party, whilst hearing thordan with ilberds voice remind you when someone gets hit by a mechanic by being "too sloppeh"

Guessing the primal will be Griever. Ilberd wants to become a man-demon, but the Ala Mighan refugees held griffin's in high regard. See the text blurb for the pre-order griffin mount. Also see the rather obvious griffin on their city state flag. So i think they have a warped version of a melee orientated Rhalgr-Griffin hybrid, like the sylphs have the traditional a mage orientated Rhalgr-grandpa hybrid

Now if we also consider that Heavensward's pre order mount was a griffin that didnt really have much relevance to the early parts of 3.x series, and the big boss of the first dungeon was an out of place griffin, and the use of the name 'griffin' in later patches, i'm guessing thats a fair bit of foreshadowing.

Griever makes more sense. Shinryu will appear but not yet. I think Midgardsrmr will have something to do with Shinryu

What about Hades? and there are still many primals from FF6 we have yet to see (Maduin anyone?)... but what do i know i was expecting a fight with Black Waltz after the whole GiGi/Vivi introduction (we saw old non primal enemies turn up in side quest trials)...

while I could see shinryu coming into the picture for the 4.0 story of omega, think im more inclined to agree with it being a manifestation of Rhalgr for the 3.xx finale.

I'd be surprised if it's actually Rhalgr considering we have yet to see a manifestation of any of the 12 yet. Here's hoping that Rhalgr has the appearance of a previous FF summon though, similar to how Cruise Chaser was Ark

To be fair, we already had a manifestation of the twelves... Right before Louisoix became Phoenix (2 years old spoiler is not a spoiler) the scions and the people of Eorzea were praying, hence the symbols of the twelves appearing around Bahamut. And in a text that was published to commemoratevthe first anniversary of ARR, I think, Louisoix explained to Minfillia that doing that required the same energy as summoning a dozen primals...

Plus, we don't even have to have this conversation, because it's ever clearer that a primal is just what its summoners want it to be, or figure it will be, hence Enkidu, hence Titan grieving for the death of a kobold child whose sorrow was more important than the other kobolds' hate... The twelves may have existed (although I do believe that the only gods that exist are Hydaelyn, Zodiark and Midgardsormr, all the others are just glorified primals-, but a primal is never a god. As I said, it won't be Rhalgr himself, but it will represent Rhalgr.
