Lol honestly, FFXIV is the only game that rewards you for doing jack shit. I cannot really think of any other title that ensures that the welfare people are within spitting distance of players who are dedicated. You beat the hardest content, you get the best gear.....except it isn't the best gear. Doesn't this sound wrong?

There really isn't much point to putting up with endgame content unless you enjoy the company of others. The progression is the same, everyone becomes the same or similar in the end. You play to progress the power of your character, everything boils down to this. Why bother with exponential effort for something that becomes easier later?

I mean this was the case in 2.0, and we already knew this was the case in 3.0 since gordias.

So now knowing this, are you going to keep raiding?

Well, I'm more of a minority of raiders. I enjoy the content and mainly do it for the company of the team I'm in. Also, I know with every raid tier I get more competent beyond just simply gear, lots of intangible skill improvements. But my perspective is far from common.

I agree. I love end-game raiding in this game. I don't even get salty if I don't get my Savage gear or weapon loot for months due to RNG, I do it for fun. Getting better as a player, and the friendships.

Mindless grinding a dungeon or two year old content doesn't improve player skill.

Seems you already know the answer to your own question.

But it doesn't discount the question. My answer is specific to myself and a very very small number of raiders. We seek power through intangible/immaterial avenues but many seek through physical gear.
That is where the problem is.

I actually very much like way WoW does it. Their relic becomes on-par with the raid weapon sooner so all become equal ala FFXIV, in addition, it has a further step that you augment by raiding difficult content to truly become above and beyond anything else, even in to a new expansion. Its the blend of grind and skill.

Only if you want to do it.

With itemization being what it is, only thing it does is allow someone to show off a bit. Even that is limited with an ugly mount as the ultimate reward. I spoke out about this a few times, it isn't going to change, I have accepted that and adjusted my own goals and expectations accordingly.

Reading too much of the forums makes me very sad and apathetic.
