Yes. However, you have to reach a certain level before you can participate in PvP content, so one must familiarize themselves with basic Eorzea rules before participating in such activities.

This is just one of the many ways to level up your character, you can still grind on monsters all day long if you really wanted to! Also, for the people who want to spend their time PvPing, what sort of PvP knowledge would someone gain from grinding on monsters? Leveling up by doing PvP would give them the skills to compete in level 50 PvP. And judging by an additional snippet, the PvP knowledge would really come in handy!

Twas a troll, but a lot of truth is said in jest. I don't really see how it'd be ignorance. If people can rank up solely in PvP then they will. Which is why I referenced Modern Warfare, a game where people will read what the best weapon loadout it and then boost (read: powerlevel) their way to have that specific configuration.

Just pointing out that those against power leveling also should be against this, as someone who goes from the minimum level of participation to cap in PvP will be worthless -- in their definition -- in PvE.

This is most people's experience with RPG PvP. Only time I've ever encountered it myself was in Diablo and it made me loathe PvP in RPGs -- mostly because it consists of some over-powered low life berating you and your brand new character into a duel, killing you in one hit, then acting like they won some hard-fought battle.

I'm sorry if that is that is the "most people's experience with RPG PvP.". I have experienced that as well... However that doesn't mean PvP is bad, whether you like it or not there are always going to be assholes like that, however if they do that, they are NOT good AT all. Besides, he said nothing about duels at all, just Frontlines and Coliseum.

That is completely wrong, I PvP to have fun, and pass time, I also take it seriously and love to win, however, I do not SUCK at PvE at all. It's good to know everything about your class, not just the PvE aspects of it, or the PvP aspects of it as well. Also, People really shouldn't play this game for the PvP, we don't even know how much EXP we will get from PvP, get from winning, what the PvP is going to be like, etc etc... But saying that people who PvP will know shit about their class is wrong. Plus, if that is your only experience with PvP, you should get around a lot more. If your so against it, you should learn more about it.

I'm just not so sure this will even be a problem. You gotta figure the time investment to level will be about the same. Shouldn't matter if their opponent is AI or a real person. If anything, it will be harder to level unless they are really good at PvP. If anyone who plays PvP is going to do PvE, no doubt they have been doing both concurrently the entire way. Or they will just stick to PvP only in which case they will know their job as it pertains to PvP just fine. Even if they didn't, and leveled to 50 in PvP and then started doing PvE content, they will learn their class through the school of hard knocks just the same as any of us. They'll only be max level while doing it.
