HW came out before bravely second and I don't remember it in FFT...was it in that psp remake because I skipped that due to the awful lag...unless I simply forgot. I really don't remember unlocking it at all. >.<
FF Type-0 --> Ace
Hum, it's my bad, in french, he talked about "Chronomancien" which is a kind of Time Mage.
But I don't know how it is called in the english version.
Anyways, it's really too detailed to be included in Astrologian. And if it was, Cyr would have mentionned it. But no, it's not the same thing.
Oh, that's why lol I don't remember any npc with that job at all. I played FFT to death.
If we talking about FFT npc jobs , can we get the Princess job Ovelia was? :P
Either way the point still stands I'd say, AST wasn't very popular in the FF world and we got it in this game.
Olan/Oran is an Astrologer/Astrologian. His signature job skill was Celestial Stasis.Oh, that's why lol I don't remember any npc with that job at all. I played FFT to death.

It is just lore stuff I guess, but lore stuff is the essence of this game, and it's what primarily moves this game forward, even if lore isn't deemed important to much of the player base. The difference between this game and most other MMO's is that lore is held in the highest regard by the developers.
I don't think the developers would put this unrecognizable and unimportant NPC in the area where the MSQ ends for this patch, and give him such controversial & significantly relevant line when it wasn't even called for, and had nothing to really do with the MSQ. I especially don't think they would do it right now if nothing would come from it in the near future.
You're right that its not definite or concrete. In fact, no type of hints or clues about any job is definite or concrete. It will only be once its officially announced. But something that is put in the game by the dev team, mentioning a job that has been talked about for years now, AND was added right around the time that EVERYONE is fervently speculating what the new job will be....
Yeah, this is about the closest thing we will have to concrete.
I agree with you, though. I think it's unrefutable that SAM will be a job in this game.
the thing is its fine and all to try to make your case, everyone has their favorite jobs and thats ok. But COME ON PEOPLE dont make stuff up, and dont insult not one but 2 cultures when you want to project speculation, Steiner was not EVER a SAM, the armor for one is that of a Knight, and Excalibur WILL NEVER BE a Katana, Its actually frustrating to see people grasp at straws so hard they dont even know what they are talking about to try to make their case. Im sorry it just makes you look foolish.
By name, Astrologian appeared once. Final Fantasy Tactics' Astrologer's JP name is different by one character from modern Astrologian's, but the name is the same (and slight tweaks to how a job is spelled out aren't really uncommon, either).
Astral Stasis, the LV3 Limit Break ability of Astrologian, takes its name from Celestial Stasis, to the point where the JP names are identical (星天停止). Celestial Stasis was an ability of Astrologer in Final Fantasy Tactics.
On top of this, Astrologian borrows heavily from Time Mage, as well as Oracle. Astrologian isn't new, it's just a creative package of several jobs that couldn't stand on their own.
To be fair, all of the Blue/Red color from anything recent is rather ridiculous as well. OMG the poem has blue/red, rdm/blu confirmed. omg the trailer had red/blue auras red/blu confirmed.the thing is its fine and all to try to make your case, everyone has their favorite jobs and thats ok.
