Or you could have just, you know, declined like a normal person, if you cared about your chimney so much? I really don't get why being horrible to your fellow neighbours is considered commendable in any way
When the house across the stream from my house got resold, first thing I did was find the new owner and ask him what kind of yard decorations he was planning on putting up.
Along with asking him to not use crazy glowing stuff if he wouldn't mind. He didn't mind, and now we have two beautiful, natural gardens next to the river
If he had said no though, there is absolutely nothing I could have done about it. And that's fine. It's a question, and unless it's something one cares about, I don't see any reason to keep inconveniencing the one asking.
But if it's something they care about, well, I'll just have to deal with it, that's how life works.
I just expect people to be mature enough to politely decline something they don't want instead of the "now more than ever" attitute of a defiant child by making everything as unbearable for someone else as possible...
