Yeah, that's not how it works. If you want to guarantee you get something, go with some friends who won't roll on stuff you want, so you have a better chance of getting it.

To be honest the entire alex loot system has been busted even before they remove the restricions. now it's just even worse.

3.4 what you had was people endlessly complaining that some people weren't rolling on drops till the last second. moaning that they're being made to wait.
why didn't people roll till the last second? because they wanted the stuff they didn't want to drop first.

In A12 for example If I wanted a shaft, i'd pass the springs and cranks and I would NOT roll on that shaft until those items i'd passed on had been won / dropped to the floor. even if that meant waiting 4 mins and 59 seconds.

The reason people did this was it increased there chances. I roll on that shaft straight away i'm rolling against 7 people. thus 12.5% of me winning it.
I wait until the cranks and springs have been won now i'm only rolling against 4 people on the shaft 20% chance to win.
It also meant you could beat people with higher rolls. someguys rolls 99 on that shaft but then wins a spring suddenly his 99 roll is cancelled cos hes got his weekly item.

What makes it worse is when someone else in the party wants the crank passed the shaft and springs and will not roll on the crank until the shaft and springs have been won for the exact same reasons. and if someone else wants the spring and is doing the same. best go get that kettle on cos loot will take a while...

waiting 4 mins reduces the chances I'm going to have to queue that fight for a "n"th time that week so hell yeah I'm gonna wait it out.

    It was a horrendous system.

now they've removed the restrictions and it's people just roll everything regardless of if they want it or not. so it's even worse for players to try and get the items they want.

Midas was exactly the same. in 3.2 players were complaining because people didn't roll till the last second. exactly the same as in 3.4. and even gordias.
and in 3.3 you couldn't get anything you needed cos everyone was rolling everything regardless. same again in 3.1

It's one of the worst loot designs in the game...
