I think we're compensating them for continuing to give updates....not the other way around....

If they were to suddenly stop updating the game, how many people do you think would continue to play? We're paying them to continue to update the game.

Anyway, don't blame the OP for wondering about this. Not many other games have maintenances this long, especially for a non-expansion patch.

These kind of threads pop up every time there is maintenance for a whole day... It's kind of funny though because if you think about it, months don't always have the same number of days...so how does that work?

For instance, say its a month with 28 days, and they shut the game down for a day... ok so they compensate you for a single day...then next same thing but a month with 31 days...

Maybe the real question is... *GASP* did you guys know that you pay the same monthly fee when months are different numbers of days! I demand compensation for my 28 day months! lol I'm kidding...

Compared to maintenances most games have? Yes, it's VERY long. Even the regular patches are longer than average compared to most games. Like WoW's for example, 1 hour usually vs the 3 XIV has.

I think you forgot to take into account the amount of people that works on WoW versus the amount of people that works on XIV.
