I do not dps as a healer. It is a choice I make.
Except it is intended by the game that you DPS as a healer - I've done the newbie-stuff on an alt recently and its basically telling you "Hey, if everyone is well, go and deal some damage!". You get all those fancy DPS-skills to use, not to sit in your hot bar as decorative elements! You're playing far from good when you choose not to make use of your ablities and skills - and no "Dont DPS if you dont feel comfortable" doesnt apply here when someone just flat out says "I wont even try because I dont want to".

I'm sorry I have little sympathy for people not even trying and making runs longer than they have to be... and then snapping and getting all rude when you point out flaws that you really, really shouldnt explain to someone who reached level 60.

As a tank I stop dodging and using cooldowns for healers who dont dps.

Stop encouraging him. He did not get reported for not fulfilling a role, he got reported for verbally harassing the guy who mentioned it. He\\'ll never learn if you keep letting him think he was reported for another reason that may not be his fault or I his mind unwarranted.

If he harassed the tank about he wont dps , its a good reason to report and no a stupid reason.

Stupid reason would be get reported because no dps as healer and there wasnt conflit during the party .

Good reason would be get reported for harassment or big conflit with bad words in chat or/and with emotes.

Just for say : If u wont get reported by someone no harass them or talk to them bad. Talk with calm and respect. We are a community no ennemies.

I agree. Cleric Stance, and stance switching in general is dumb. Reminds me of FFXI gear swapping. It would be different if jobs were designed to do anything other than one role. Just take Cleric Stance out of the game, and base healers' damage on MND.

OP was technically griefing the party anyway by not DPSing (seriously, the game tells you to do help with damage during several points). When called out for his actions, he admittedly became abusive. Sounds like solid grounds for harassment reporting to me.

I dps when I feel I can safely do so, and I don't when I don't. But I've never had someone chew me out for either.

I would fall asleep bored if all I had to do was heal and buff with cards. Switching to cleric stance, whatever that quick cast ability is, and spamming some gravity makes those trash pulls go so much faster, along with clinching some of those dps checks with lesser geared/experienced players.

Uhm, no - none of the guildhests are required for anything at all (excepting unlocking other guildhests of course.) AFAIK you can go through the entire game and do everything else in it without ever doing a single guildhest.

The forums are not the place to post this. While they are right, in that you should DPS IF YOU CAN (so if you aren't confident in your abilities, that's OK, though I do recommend taking baby steps and trying to take it a little bit at a time, that was how I learned how to manage DPS and healing as a healer, if you have a disability that severely hinders your ability to play, that's fine. In fact most groups are very accomodating of that if they know, but I personally would consider if this game is right for me if that was my situation), you won't be getting sympathy off this forum. Plus you mentioned you got abusive back to them after they called you out. That IS fair grounds for a report. If you'd turned around and said "Sorry, I don't feel confident about DPSing yet" and they reported you, then yes that wouldn't be grounds for a report (at least, not one the GMs would take seriously). So yeah, in this case I think it is warranted.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

    Please no.

As someone who mains healer (usually White Mage) I like this part of the job as it adds at least a small challenge to it. Without this you wouldn't have to think about when you can/can't switch and the the job would become mind-numbingly easy. It would also break things like Assize where right now you can use it for big heals or big damage. Making it do both would be insane (and possibly unwanted if you don't need to do a massive area heal).

I also feel that healers shouldn't be able to just do damage without any consequences so cleric stance helps add a balance.

There is one -- Hest of the Best is a main scenario quest that requires doing the turtle guildhest.

Not saying the OP is right in their actions, but just clarifying that one does, indeed, have to do the turtle before getting access to Heavensward.
