Trolling, replying "omg lulz u iz n00b ur not lvl 50!!" or basically saying anything that doesn't state clearly your opinion on a matter and create a worthwhile post simply makes those numbers go up. I mean, how many times have you come across people simply arguing over something rather stupid on the forums? Seriously?
The fact of the matter a good number of people simply lurk on the forums. Nine times out of ten I don't want to post on an issue because of all of the trolls or the idea has already been said way too much. Think of all of the anti-power leveling threads started after patch 1.19?
If I feel that I should give my two cents, such as something like this for example, yes I'll post. Nothing wrong with that.
So kindly, don't get all high and mighty because of your post count because it means absolutely nothing.
In regards to this, yes it is wrong of SE to ask their players to pay to play a beta. If they had said "-50% of the monthly price until 2.0" you'd find that people would still be angry but a lot more would stay, myself included.
Personally, I'd love to stay until 2.0. What has happened with FFXIV is something I've never encountered... particularly because no other company has ever biffed as badly as SE did with FFXIV... but I can't afford to pay for the game at this stage for so long. We're not talking about a couple of months. If it was 5 months, I'd be like "ok!" but we're talking about a full year...
That's a lot of money from people who may not be able to do this whether it's because they're on a budget, or jobless, or even having their folks pay for it. Not every player can afford to pay an extra 12-15$ a month my friend.
SE has several options right now.
-Extend the no-pay period further so it is at least closer to 2.0 if not all the way until 2.0.
-Charge a discount rate- at least 50%. After all Yoshida himself said that the game is 50% to where it can be called an FF.
-Follow LOTRO's model.
All of these are temporary solutions until 2.0 comes out. Personally, I'd go with the LOTRO model because you can even make it a permanent model if one chooses to do so. However, I'd be happy with a discount.
