After thinking about this for awhile I think I will actually pay and play over the next year. The FFXIV team needs our support and I'm thankful they are not just shutting down the game until 2.0 is ready.

theres nothing wrong with SE making the game a normal pay to play mmo. its obvious they not going to free to play which is a great sign lol. trust me once they start adding patches that have new classes or new instances people will slowly start paying subscriptions. 2.0 release will be the make or break for mass subscriptions from ps3 and pc. you forum people have a year to post about your emotions. have fun with it. the path is already set in stone.
no pay for beta, wait for 2.0
Hey, everyone? THIS IS NOT BETA. If it were beta, your info would be wiped and everything you've worked for would be gone. Your achievements are permanent with regards to how the game will progress. So please, please please stop calling this beta.
Don't want to pay? Leave.
We won't miss you.
I stand by what I said. None of those are necessary. Jumping is just a nice piece of flair to have, but no FF title has had jumping that I can think of, except X-2. Hell, the one thing I like about Aion was being able to fly and jump and stuff. But I come to FF MMOs because they're unique, not so I can keep playing games that are the same as everything else.jumping and swiming are not needed if ur a minless mouse stuck in a copy pasted maze. maybe i want to jump over the rock or down the cliffside, into some water to get away form the 5 adds i just linked. any way it goes it limits and makes the game that much worse.
pvp is must have. how many good mmos that have been released in last 5 years have not had pvp? but it is not more important than the other serious flaws in the game that should not have been here.
FFXI's PvP completely sucks and it's still an awesome game that's been played for nearly a decade now.

Not all BETA's do that. A lot of games these days go straight into release from beta and do not whipe.
And to some it feels like beta, like to me it does. Its very, very incomplete, we're still fixing a lot of core issues and still trying to properly balance the most basic areas (EXP).
Not to mention they kind of said it themselves.

as as I know in mmorpg, only F2p do that, havent see a P2p yet, and I consider FFXIV a P2pNot all BETA's do that. A lot of games these days go straight into release from beta and do not whipe.

I'll be paying to play because I'm not 12 years old.
hahah SE is gonna have a lot of people willing to pay lol. Mab they had to because i know a lot of people playing since 1.19

Vote: No, but I plan to come back with 2.0's arrival.
I simply can't justify for paying for a game that is basically in Beta testing.
Even Yoshida-san said that it is basically 50% to where he can call it a Final Fantasy, not to when it is complete.
I can't really be expect to pay for SE's mistake, that's asking for way too much.
I understand that SE needs money but I can't afford to pay for another potential disappointment. As in, I don't want to pay and then to hear seven months down the that FFXIV is being cancelled because they can't sustain it. Worse yet, I pay for the full year and 2.0 turns out to be a huge disappointment.
That being said....
It feels as if SE is still riding the nostalgia train in regards to the FF name.
It feels as if they have lost connection with gamers in general.
Well... at least it feels that way sometimes. In any case...
I posted my suggestion to SE for the game here....
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ASY-XIV/page32
Please take a look when/if you have time or are interested.
I think my suggestion is more than fair and will certainly help this game succeed (without ruffling too many feathers at least).
Thanks for reading!

After playing FFXI for too many years, it became pretty obvious that what Square-Enix thought customers want, and what customers actually wanted, were two very different things.
What I don't understand is how everyone can be so steadfast to this promise of literally a new game in such a short period of time. It's almost as if FFXIV wasn't the biggest flop in "AAA" MMORPG history. Has everyone already forgotten the disappointment of launch? It's only been.. what.. 10 months?
Maybe some of you are cool with handing over your money, but i'd rather wait and actually see the commitment they are supposedly making come to fruition.
