Wow, who pissed in your cheerios?I believe in the opposite to the OP. I believe they should do away with it ENTIRELY, if you delete your character too bad, even if you were hacked and it got deleted (unless it was due to an SE server breach that caused the hack). Also, requests to the GMs about stuff like this should just not get any response, even automated. Repeatedly do it then the GMs WILL step in, but only to permanently ban you without appeal. Same with item restoration if you ask me.
Way too many folk angry about something that doesn't affect them.
I have lost items due to stupidity before. So what, I was stupid, I don't deserve them back. Now stuff bought from the Mog Station, just make those (aside from consumables like dyes and maybe housing items), unable to be discarded/sold etc. So you can't get rid of them. There we go, no need to call a GM about those. Buy them for the wrong character, too bad, deal with it, but they shoud include a double check after you insert your payment details to tell you what character they're going to. Check it's the right character, and then submit.
White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
I'm still not sure why you're so vindictive toward people when their actions and wants don't affect you in the slightest.I have lost items due to stupidity before. Because it takes away time from other GM responses. Yoshi has already said the FFXIV support team is very small. If you close off this avenue, it opens up more time for the GMs to handle things like dealing with harassment reports. RMT and the like is handled by the STF which is different, but the other things are all handled by the same team. If this comes across as vindictive then I'm extremely happy to be considered vindictive. And if you get me banned from the game permanently without appeal for it, I'll just play another game. I already have contact outside of the game with my closest friends in this game so no skin off my back. Yes I enjoy the game but getting permanently banned without appeal from it wouldn't be the end of the world to me.

I am sure you haven't noticed but 14 is run by two hamsters and a spinning wheel. They clearly say all the time, "If you want that we are not doing something else." Also to the automated restore. This game has some serious design issues compared to other games. Or at least we are led to believe and that's why X thing isn't possible.
