That is such a ridiculously small difference, why is this even a complaint?

Hmm, can't argue about that logic, but since it's already ingame there's no reason to remove it since it's such a small difference.
I guess.
Personally I never think about it, I choose the race/tribe I find most appealing.
I would guess that the only reason they have it is for the extra background touch to each of the races/tribes.
This is after all an RPG. And most RPGs I've played, Digital or P&P, have different base stats for that extra flavour for the backstory.
Having expanded racial skills is in itself a good idea, but would be horrible for how 14 is designed. Recall this game was/is supposed to let us be all classes if we chose so. Now, let's say I pick a SCH, Elezen Duskwright, and for example, the Duskwright gets an extended racial ability of 15 more MND and INT points if playing with another Duskwright, great I get a nice buff and can do a bit more healing, but... I get docked 15 MND and INT if a Wildwood is in the party, because of racial differences. No one would play with the counter part race in this example.
It's best to keep them at minimum or not have anything at all because like stated earlier if one class became to powerful due to the ability everything would have to revolve around that one class. Like if they gave Miqo'te Seekers who play tank a racial ability that does 50% more aggro generation called Thrill of the Hunt, no other class could tank because no other class has an ability that powerful.
The game already has issues we don't need to add race to it.

I think the racial differences should be increased, not statwise, just cosmetical. For example race or tribe specific weapon holding poses for some jobs or the most common job for this race/tribe or more specific sitting poses, tribe specific /dance not only race specific.
@OP and supporters: You chose fashion over function. Deal with it.
More racial differences would be better IMO.

The recent XIV census suggests Au Ra as a whole are not popular. 0.3% is so minuscule you wouldn't ever notice the difference. To put that into perspective, if I parased 2,200 DPS on Dragoon, it would only be a 6.6 potency gain. That is literally 1/5 of Chaos Thrust's dot ticking. To a min maxer which I am the stats do matter. I done the math 1332 attack power Raen, 1336 Attack power Xaela. There is a 0.3% gain as a Xaela. I can not achieve my maximum possible dps for my job as long as I am a Raen. I already beat A12S several weeks ago but like every patch I go for bis gear. What it boils down to me is a choice between looking cute or being the best I can be stat wise. Personally I see very few Raen tanks out there that even do savage, could it be because of the stat difference?
The flavor text about the races when making a character really have nothing to do with the stats. Which is why I would like the stats to be even out. No matter how small a difference it may be it is still a difference.
They could be little fun racials like RIFT had. Something like Miqo'te getting an out of combat leap or Lalafel having an increased 5 minute buff on all dishes that contain popotoes.
If you were really worried about it, you would've made the switch to Xaela before the current raid tier or whenever you started raiding. The reason you don't see many Raen is because Au Ra isn't a very popular race as is. Besides, there are tons of Lala tanks who do Savage who are up there / better than many of those who play Highlanders or Sea Wolves; don't worry about it too much. Case in point, do you see many NINs who are Wildwoods? To a min maxer which I am the stats do matter. I done the math 1332 attack power Raen, 1336 Attack power Xaela. There is a 0.3% gain as a Xaela.
