And you are correct, context is everything. Under no context should buying power, buying levels, buying content clears or wins, ever be permitted. Someone (without source) even said Yoshi had said something to that effect (though not the words I just used).

Max vs not max is irrelevant. The principle, buying gear, power (levels), content wins, remains exactly the same regardless of when it is purchased.

Not being max level means the player has some time to learn his class, which is what impact other players.

Last comment to thread: For what it is worth, I feel people that pay for a story boost are actually losing something rather than winning something since they will miss a good portion of what, IMHO, makes this game great, but it's no skin off my back if they choose to do so.

Well as I said some pages back, they always have the option to go back and make an alt and then experience the story as we did (even if they boost just so they don't have to do the side-quests).

@Roth_Trailfinder, change i270 to i260. Silver Feathers (which recruited newbies technically get for free if they subscribe) currently do not give you upgraded (aka Augmented - 130) Poetic gear. Just the regular i120 gear.

Jump potions by their design are pay to win. Let me put on my tin foil hat for a moment and give you a hypothetical view of the situation (none of this is true, but it could easily be perceived):

A) endgame content is locked behind MSQ
B) 2 years ago, people complained about gating for the ishgard expansion
C) The devs continued to add gating despite warnings, and did nothing to ease the lengthy process to endgame, despite saying that they would do something about it
D) The devs turn around and tell us that for a premium price we can skip the lengthy process to endgame entirely with a potion.

Almost seems like we are being played into a freemium trap doesn't it, in a sub game no less. Granted, this is all conspiracy theory, tin foil hat stuff, but you begin to see why people are frustrated. On top of this, the jump potion isn't even a necessity, there are ways around it that can easily be implemented.

Of course it is tin foil hat stuff, but nevertheless, it does feel weird doesnt it? I totally share this opinion.

True. It's just weird to me to buy a game and then pay to not play the first 2/3rds of it. I mean, as should be clear from my other posts, I am in no way against the jump potions... just I would never use one myself. :P I have completed the storyline (through patch.. 3.2? (maybe 3.3) on 4 different characters so I may be in the minority.

The real situation is, people Want what they are adding, but do not want PTW.

The real situation is, such people leap to the erroneous conclusion that because they want it, they can twist PTW around so that the jump potion no longer qualifies.

The real situation is, YOU do not want to see that buying gear, buying content clears, buying levels, is the same regardless of the levels bought relative to the levels attainable. So you prefer to call it straw manning in an attempt to dismiss it rather than face it.

THAT'S the "real situation", as it appears from where I sit.

Anyway, I'm done. I know that calling it PTW is a minority opinion, and as I stated here, I've got a grasp on one of the reasons why. Nothing you say to me, or that I say to you, will sway the other, so there is no point in continuing this.

There is no point trying to rebuttle Roth. Hes so set in his mind set about what he wants it to be, that its just a waste of breath. I've had it out with him quite some pages ago about this very same topic, and he refuses to budge one bit. Best to just walk away and let him live in his delusions.
