No they can't. Even people who do this take ages to get through ARR, ARR's patches, and HW. In Stormblood HW's patches will be added to that. I see a lot of sprouts burn out halfway through HW because they have burned out on MSQ.
So only wastrels will be using this.
Then the players know that they don't go back to old content like that unless SE implement something that they'll get a good item to either sell or use.
So we're going free to play now, right?
I do, lets say a RMT gets on uses boost potion for any of the craft jobs makes invests in gear then transfers the gil to someone who isn't a bot, then sells it makes profit and wrecking the Market board for everyone.
I understand its for players to catch up and even though they won't know the mechanics they'll learn but I can see this being abused and if people say no, they are RMT they always find ways to screw things up trust me.
A large portion of those people inevitably unsub out of sheer boredom. It is entirely unrealistic to expect people to slog through 500+ quests, especially of a story they simply aren't interested in. Without a means of skipping ahead, people would simply choose a less grind-y game.
As I said to someone earlier. Have you cleared Savage? If not, do I get to mark you with a "scrub" icon because you dare to play a game differently than I do? No amount of advice or obstacles are going to make someone who doesn't care abruptly willing to learn how to play their job. Likewise, these types of people are the least likely to spend upwards of $65 USD on just skipping content. A new player coming in would have an overall cost of potentially $130+, in addition to a sub fee. People complain about the $70 price tag games carry nowadays. Do you honestly expect someone completely new to lump up nearly double that with any regularity?Hopefully there'll be a mark on peoples' Search Info after using them so we know who to blame when they inevitably are laughably unprepared for even the most basic dungeon mechanics.
You want another "presumed negative effect"? Dungeons are going to have to be made pointlessly easier just to accomodate people jumping into them with no experience in the game. The alternative? Dungeons have some difficulty to them and you can get trapped into a timesink party with one or more dead weight players who, trust me, may very likely be extremely resistant to criticism / instruction from other players. I've encountered two White Mages in the level 50 range who not only didn't use Regen, but outright refused to use it when instructed to.
In addition, have fun with slower queues now that people can just skip past all of that. Users who choose not to fork over the cash to cheat their way through now have a worse experience because of it.
And no, dungeons nor any other content needs not be made to accommodate these players. They are the outliner. By your own example, two people completed the entirety of the WHM storyline and still couldn't perform even the most basic aspect of the job. You know how you handle people like that? You kick them. They'll inevitably learn or quit the game out of frustration and no longer be our problem. What you don't do is stubbornly maintain an archaic system and watch your sub totals decline. One of the most frequent complaints about FFXIV is the sheer grind associated with reaching its endgame and the boring earlier game. While not a free solution I imagine some would prefer, this at least alleviates that to an extent.
Healers are one of the class types in high demand, your dungeon may take a bit longer but your queue time would improve. Many times I'd take a tank that doesn't dps well just so I could get in the damn dungeon, lol.
I'm skeptic that the ambitious player types won't want to use their full kit though, and lvling the slow way hasn't exactly stopped non-dpsing healers before?
People tend to join games with a mentality from the start, it's not gameplay that influences that unless the dungeon requires it to succeed. When I joined I thought from the start that I want to push my limits and "be the best I can". Similarly, non-dpsing healers view healing as a sort of part healer roleplay, where they favor their enjoyment over efficiency.
Also I main SCH, it will never be my problem c: , my problem tends to be healers that have a slower reaction time healing-wise.
Tip: System > Character Config > Item Settings > Inventory/Retainer Interface > Expanded (now check ur inventory)

To those who are quitting, to those who continue to spout hyperbolic nonsense, to those who simply refuse to even once consider why these items need to exist, I have one thing to say: Its happening, either quit the game or keep playing and move on. The game will not change to the extent you have convinced yourself that it will. The game will not die and it does not give you any reason to think more highly of yourselves than those who opt to use the potion.
To which I say, how dare you think you are above someone else because they pursued a different method.
Those who are unlearned of their job and wish to learn, will.
Those who would have leveled through fates or Palace will simply skip FATEs and palace and be as bad as they always have.
This changes nothing in that regard, and such arguments have no basis to stand.
No this is an MMORPG with a main story quest. Its not the other way round. And its not SE laziness its the fact that they decided to make MMORPG which is marketed with the causal consumer in mind hence why the game is like a theme park. If you have a problem with the direction this game is going. Play something else or stop complaining and try and find the good in this lifeless world out side instance battles and citys and GS.Seriously this is nothing but a cash grab and laziness on SE and the dev teams part
This is a story based MMO new players should need to do the MSQ if they dont like it they can go find another MMO.
They can make adjustments to the current MSQ to condense it and make the first job 1-60 be fully done by doing the MSQ alone and remove the sub class and cross class abilties in 4.0 so you dont need to change to other classes while leveling and the effort needed to get to level 60 really wont be that bad.
