8800 is that version mogstation credits, so NAs version of crysta. So what? The packs cost 8800 yen (= 70(!)€) and give you 200k gil... what madman pays 7000€ for 20 Million Gil?
For 70€ you'd get >75 Million gil from a RMT. Ye, that's 'illegal', bust just look at the numbers...
People buying 200k for 70 bucks aren't abusing anything, they're just spilling money on the company for almost nothing in return.. 200k, lawl.. that's half of what I invest on replica items for desynthesis on a daily basis, which gains me at least 800k in return for 5 mins work...
Let them obliterate their money for crap if that ensures more budget for ma game.
Inflation because of this? Lawl. 200k... xD
Not sure what the yuan to crysta ratio is but the 8800 is the Chinese crysta.
So yes, judging from the google translate there's 2 serperate potions. One potion that will unlock a job to 60 (not including DRK AST MCH or any Stormblood jobs) and it costs 25,000 yen or 25 USD.
Then the second potion is the "main story clear" potion which sets 3.5s quest completion flag and opens up every dungeon raid etc as if you had done all the content in the game. Also 25USD roughly. So for a new player coming to the game wanting to skip, thats about 50 dollars.
Its not Crysta actually but another Cash Shop Token called Coupons, China FFXIV's cash shop is owned by Shanda Games and not Squarenix. 8800 Coupons would serve about the same function as Crysa though.
I think 8800 Coupons = around 147 Yuan = around 21 Dollars US
Also regarding the price, it's set that way to encourage the idea that "jump potions aren't for everyone. Only buy them if you truly don't care"
FFXIV monthly sub based game with a premium P2W inspired cash shop. Sub based + paid expansions + skins/mounts you can't get in game + content that could have been easily in game features (like the retainers for extra inventory which miraculously bypass all the "limitations" thing) and now power leveling pots. Can't wait for the next premium priced addition.
The game could have used more work in this area to make it more friendly to newcomers and change some thing on the lower lvls but the paid option is too convenient and easy money cow I guess.

Hmm lets buy a potion that skips the MSQ, skips leveling, skip to "end game" to the same treadmill get bored after couple months and quit. Yup that basically the type of (new) players that would use the jump potions. I could see this for alts but why would new players want to skip large potion of the game, yea yea they find it "broing" refer to my earlier part of the post. Do they buy a book and just read the last couple pages?
I can tell you what sort of player does it in WoW: ones who only care about the end-game, AKA hardcore raiders. Because they need to get to that content as fast as possible, they boost and plow through what remains after the boost.Hmm lets buy a potion that skips the MSQ, skips leveling, skip to "end game" to the same treadmill get bored after couple months and quit. Admittedly, World of Warcraft has a lot more to offer on the endgame/raiding front, so I can see where players of this game might be concerned that a boost potion will lead to burnout sooner. I guess the real question becomes...which is worse for the game? Boosters who get tired of the endgame faster, or prospective players who never bother to keep going past level 20 because the game isn't compelling enough at that level? There's no clear answer to that question, but from a business perspective the booster at least invests more financially into the income of the game.
