We were getting Au Ra one way or another. How they looked, however, was what SE was deciding on and using a previous race as an example breeds familiarity. The Au Ra could have wound up looking like bunnies just like the Viera. It'd still be Au Ra and not Viera. So yeah, I stand firmly by what I have said.

You are right, Au'ra could have been a rabbit race not called Viera, but what you said is that we would never get viera because the devs won't ever consider putting an existing race from another game into XIV. Viera wasn't "mentioned", I linked you concept art of a proposed Viera race, fully lifted from ivalice and named Viera. This shows that the devs have considered the race in its totality, and whether they ultimately choose yes to viera, no to viera, yes to a rabbit race not viera, all options are still valid.
