When I started this game as very first MMO I didn't know what exactly to expect. My first few month I was leveling different classes, doing dungeons. I was in a social FC and people tried raids and they were lacking a tank so I (fearfully) agreed to jump in. I was neither a good tank nor did I know at all what to expect.
We got a weekly kill and so we did raid for 3 weeks to notice I lacked accuracy. To get the accuracy it was for me the simplest solution to replace my weapon and for that I needed to beat ex primals. So for the upcoming 2 weeks I jumped on every trainings and/or clear PF I could make up until I cleared and had my weapon.
So my motivation to raid? Progress, the feel to have achieved something before it got nerfed (do you know the true beauty of T7, A3S?), passing time with friends or people that gather together via PF and have the same goal and after all gear is also a factor even though only a small one for me.

    Snip.
You are correct, people should be able to accept criticism. I welcome it. If I can improve, please let me know how. I think you are being nieve if you think that\\\\'s how it is presented a lot of times. It\\\\'s the flat out rudeness and ***** attitudes from the community that are the issue. I'm in a static. It's not hardcore and we've had to occasionally pug people. Now... we don't mind teaching a fight to someone who is competent at their class. So it should be easy to say to a pf group " hi I've watched a video, I've cleared the SSS for this fight" most likely they'll be willing to give you 30 mins or so to see how you handle learning mechanics. If they kick you after that instead of being bummed out take what you did learn into the next group. "I've watched a vid and seen until xyz mechanic"

For me it's progression and a sense of accomplishment. And I'm actually having fun. OK, a bit for the gear too. Currently on A11S with my static, just past the first plasma sheild, but we're doing baby steps each raid night. All progression is best progression!

I dunno I feel like every time someone tells me their motivations. They aren't enough. And I feel like most of the raid gear this expansion are ugly.

So it's try really hard to get gear that becomes useless or doing It for the challenge and I'm just not that excited to beat memorization battles. (There are a few random mechanics)

I see in these threads the main argument is "But doesn't everyone want a challenge?" And the answer is "no." I've got a quite a plenty friends who are entirely content with dance syncing around aetherytes and chatting. Once they get their fancy weapons and swag, they're done.

Consider out of the hundreds of thousands of players what the majority wants world wide. Does Japan want more challenges? Or more loli/catgirl pandering? Does Europe want Dante Must Die mode? Or... whatever they usually want.

To be frank I want challenge just not in the form that SE delivers with raiding, and EX. Make it more random reactable and I'll probably have more fun.

Regarding that I lately discovered PvP for myself and PotD 150+ if it is not random what other PCs do or zoning in on a floor to 4 chimera patrols coming at you with the 5th right around the corner... idk

This is true, when raiding you need to maintain a certain decorum in dealing with other players. And some people have no sense of that decorum.

I like to think that I am fairly patient in raid groups when I join them. Others see me as elitist and snobby, but this is generally from the people who not only underperform but also do not learn and chronically wipe us to the same mechanics for hours at a time. Or do not take time begin and ends times seriously. If we start at 7 I will give you until 7:10 then rep you unless you give me notice of lateness. Not me being an elitist, that is on you. You can be as nice as pie but when you are eating dirt for a couple hours and the person wiping you is laughing and shrugging because it's "just a game" and I only do this for entertainment" it gets super annoying and sometimes you just have to be a jerk to get them to straighten up or just leave.

I was the same when I was in retail management, I would work with you and train you to my best, but if it's not your priority, you just refuse to learn or you just do not take things seriously I am going to be the worst boss you ever had. The only difference is in this game I have no HR to worry about so language can be, we shall say, more colorful if needed.

So the not being an *** has to come from both sides, not just the so-called elitists. If raiding is not for you due to w/e and you are not going to take it seriously you need to remember that not everyone is so aloof when it comes to endgame. And since this is a constant struggle for raiders our patience can be worn a bit thin sometimes
