I started playing in 2.0 during beta phase 1 on PS3. I generally try to stay up to date with content and gear outside of Savage. Even when I took breaks, I never rushed when I returned. Yes, I watch all cut scenes for the first time (who visits their Inn when they have a house or Apartment?).

Besides, I spam content too much, win or lose, to be bored.

I think it is. I already got what I want like, Black ADS, every job 60, can go savage even I didn't clear a11s and a12s, also done gearing my healer with proper gear. It's like I'll just wait till 2.5 to online again.

Being filled with content and being filled with content that people want to participate in are two different things.

Its kind of relative. It depends how much time you spend into the game. For example someone who plays 2 hours/week most likely won't get boredom as quick as someone who play 14 hours/week.
In its current state with all the patches and the expansion, FF XIV has lot of content to do for a new player, unless that player is only interested to the current end game, rush to it and skip all the optional stuff.

If someone is bored in the game, maybe it's a sign it should take a break until more content is released, or play less and enjoy playing/doing something else instead.
The only drawback is peoples in hurry to gear up and who farm end Tomes, they kind of feel "forced" to do their daily roulettes and stuff. I'm not sure that system is a good thing in the first place, but well that's how it is

I definitely don't burn as quickly and seem to enjoy the game more in short spurts.

Used to play 14-15 hour periods at times, just was not fun and turned to other games to gain back my sanity.

It's best to take your time. Many people rush to endgame, skip all story dialogue and then regret it later

That is exactly what happened to my friend who joined the game with me. After Brayflox, he left me in the dust and quickly got through the MSQs and job levels. Matter o fact, he got his WAR, BLM, and NIN all to 60 before I got one job to 50. He found himself grinding tomes to get the gear needed to increase his average iLv to continue to participate in endgame stuff, and this is where he got burnt out. I tried to introduce crafting, gathering, side story, optional dungeons, working on Zodiac weapons, collecting TT cards, chocobo racing, and even coils to no avail. His logins are so few and far between now, I have to explain to him why this and that has changed when he does. We just have very different playstyles. I'm all about the journey, and he is all about the destination.

It'd be interesting to join a FC whose only requirement is not having HW access. Once you do, you are considered a graduate of sorts, and off you go :P

Title earning is another fun long-term goal thing to work on in end game too. I'm trying to get "Molder of Masterpieces" (synthesize 1000 collectables) and "Good Samaritan" (res 200 people who aren't in a party with you) at my own pace, just adding to it a little bit as I do other stuff. Trying to earn the second title has turned Wiping City into a personal scavenger hunt for people who don't know mechanics.

Some people are going to get burned out with things no matter what though.

I rushed to endgame with my main character to join my friends at endgame when I started playing. And I honestly regret it.

So, with my alt, I am taking my time: enjoying the story, enjoying doing sidequests to level up different classes, enjoying doing small things that I didn't bother to enjoy on my main because I wanted to catch up to my friends. If I could redo my main over again, I would do it differently. (Not that I could ever delete her given the amount of progress and effort I put into her, but, you get the idea.)

I think people should take their time and enjoy the story, and enjoy the game. I know the MSQ exp is like ridiculously buffed now, but still. No need to rush it. Sure, there are fun things to do at endgame, but I find myself bored most of the time now, where as, when I was leveling, I was never bored! Because I had so much content to get through! Now, I log in to my main to do dailies, cap tomes, and...yeah, that's about it. Unless I'm leveling a different job, but I don't have many more left that aren't 60, so what am I going to do?! D:

However, different folks, different strokes. There will be those that take it nice and easy, and enjoy the story/game, and there will be those that rush to endgame so they can start whatever endgame activity it was that they were so eager to get to.

    ^This.

If you only want "Content"...there's the entire gold saucer from Triple Triad card collecting to chocobo breeding coupled with LoV PvP. Two sightseeing logs, Crafting and Gathering plus oodles of sidequests. FATEs are everywhere, hunts are a thing, as is leveling your chocobo. And we haven't even touched the MSQ, regular PvP, dungeons or raids yet.

The more content you enjoy, the more the game offers to you and the less likely you are to get burned out or bored. You can achieve the same effect by playing multiple games at the same time - by spreading yourself thinner, you not only spend less time in any given game (extending content lifespan), but also have a higher diversity, so the gameplay itself becomes less repetitive.

That said, "rushing" over parts you don't enjoy to get to the ones you do does no harm, quite the opposite - rushing over parts you do enjoy out of social pressure however is bad.
