Suggestions for better flying

1. Why must I "land" before dismounting?!

Maybe because people like me do stupid stuff like fly as high as we can and press dismount curious to see how much fall damage we take from that high up........

I also wanted to see if I could dismount and summon another mount before I hit the ground.....

or at least I tried to when I first unlocked flying

I do that all the time! Or well, I did when I played that Other Game that has flying. It's fun... and no reason to block us from being able to do it. You can't even die from fall damage in this game unless you're in combat, though I'd still do it even if we could. Being able to drop onto tall peaks or towers, or drop from dizzying heights only to save myself by charging at a mob... super fun! But... impossible in this game.
