Personally, I like the prisms. While I don't craft them to sell anymore, I've made a little over 5mil just crafting and selling the things. There's very little reason to change it, I love the system we have personally!

Legit question: Does the system really have to be dumbed down further?

Making something more accessible does not = dumbed down.

Would make it enough more accessible than they are already for the devs to spend time on it?

That's not a bad question. IMO, yes. "Glamour is the true end game" is a saying for a reason, it's something that a lot of people care about. Making a system more refined, and up to par with its competitors is a good use of development time.

Yes, but removing prism will not make it more accessible than they are already.
What will make the system more accessible is something like multiple glamouring on the gear that is more linked to the job than to the gear. On that the devs should spend time, not on the prism.

That depends on what removing prisms is replaced with, for how accessible. I think the system should not be a consumable item, and I definitely don't think it should be locked behind crafting.

Basically, a merged system of Wildstar and WoW would be perfect. Unlocked glamours, costumes applied to character not armor, apply at an NPC.

I don't see the issue of it being a crafted item, since they're relatively easy to just quicksynth. I do think the books should be unlockable at the recipe level of the prisms, which would be level 30.

A good idea would be turning the prisms into currency, similar to how transmutation charges work in GW2. You get the transmutation charge (or in this case, a specific prism), and use it to add it to your currency tab. That way, it'd be easy to stock up on prisms without them taking up inventory space.

I also don't think costumes applying to character would work in XIV, due to the ability to swap between jobs (unlike Wildstar or WoW), costumes applying to job would be better.
