But the season is not even 3 weeks old and yet people saying it's already late to start. This sentiment seems a little overly dramatic to me especially when we aren't even half way into the season lol.

Season 3 does not end with 3.5. It ends in 3.55, you can expect lull aactivities in the feast for a few weeks once 3.55 hits but it will pick back up again close to 3.55.
That's totally true ... however, in the last two seasons the bulk of points in the top 50 have been drawn in the first week of Feast and do not change afterwards. If you look at the rankings right now, the points of the top players are not very different from the final results of both season 1 and 2. That's not to say that ranking up after the first week is impossible or anything. It's totally possible, and a lot of people slugged it out late into the last two seasons to get to where they ended up. It's just that a trend has been established in the previous two seasons which indicates that the first week is the most critical time for establishing an early and safe lead in points. If season 3 goes the same way, then anyone who missed week 1 will have a much harder grind ahead of them in the next 2 and a half months, especially if top tier players hit the pause button to protect their leads.
That said, Season 3 could very well break the mold of the past two seasons. It's already entirely possible to grind it out late in the game, so I definitely agree that saying it's "late" in the season is over-dramatic. There's still a lot of time left. It just depends on how active the community is

Maybe we should ask to remove qualifiers at all. Just assign a rank according to total points and that is enough.I got a silver player last night who I know for a fact lost their gold-qualifiers because they got the same scrub healer 3 matches straight. After suffering the same fate multiple times last season, I felt pretty bad for them. I'm not opposed to these types of matchmaking changes, but I still firmly believe that new or rookie players should be excluded from qualifiers (NO unranked players in silver qualifier matches). At the very least, they shouldn't count as guaranteed negative points.
Had only one match to get promoted, and loss. You know how that can be.
This doesn't matter anymore. You lose so few points when you lose in bronze, silver and gold so you can just keep trying till eventually you brute force your way through. And since you can't get matched up with unranked or bronze anymore when you trying for platinum and diamond qualifier I don't see why they need to get rid of it.

I'm not sure how it works, but if you are Silver and lose promotion, you still get +25 for win/-10 for lose all the way until you eventually get Gold? In that case losing promotions can be more beneficial for gaining ranking score than getting a Gold which i suppose gives only +25/-20?
Nah SE prevents this by capping your rank points until you successfully complete the ranking qualifiers and you rank. You will be capped at 100 points above the points needed to do qualifier. As an example you need 500 points to reach silver qualifier. Until you successfully get silver the most points you can accumulate while not being silver is 600 points. Any wins past that are wasted points that will not count.I'm not sure how it works, but if you are Silver and lose promotion, you still get +25 for win/-10 for lose all the way until you eventually get Gold? Gold is +25 / -15

I got to Gold and cannot get a single pop for 30+ mins after ranking up unless I switch to a healer. And I'm bad at healing high tier matches. Silver was 10 min max for melee. I hope it's just bad time/weekend and not a general tendency. Probably have to wait for more people to rank up for faster matchmaking, as I don't have time to queue the whole day.
