They answered this around the same time they said glamours wouldn't be allowed for PvP. It's to "make sure" that people won't mistake one role for another. ...which gets annoying when so much caster gear is considered "all classes" when heavy armor, certain leathers/shirts get a DoW or tank-only designation.

to add to this, it's almost hard to mistake one's role in pvp since names aren't shown on top of the character but their class/job instead
