It would also take a lot more processing power to get everyone's custom sizes to display correctly at the same time in a crowd.
Look how laggy Besieged was in FFXI ^^;

Since they seemed to have carried over some designs etc. 1-to-1 though, that may imply SOME assets still exist as I doubt they created EVERYTHING from scratch (why do that when some work has been done for you?). They maybe didn't keep the engine, but textures etc. may still exist somewhere.
Not sure if it would require a whole lot more, to be honest. Depends how it is implemented though.
The dev team probably still have some old graphics but they would most prob re-compress and optimize anything they brought back. No use for a flower pot that is as graphic intensive as a player's model heheeheSince they seemed to have carried over some designs etc. 1-to-1 though, that may imply SOME assets still exist as I doubt they created EVERYTHING from scratch (why do that when some work has been done for you?). You were even prompted to redo the character config even if you wanted to reuse the same character model.

@Lewtskie I thought they made an entirely new engine and more or less abandoned the one used in 1.0.
Oh, I meant textures not models lol. The models... maybe some sprucing but not obscene like 1.0. Textures you could get away with bumping the quality without killing a computer.The dev team probably still have some old graphics but they would most prob re-compress and optimize anything they brought back. No, the engine they kept, and recycled what they could and made adjustments as necessary. The very reason models were trimmed was because the engine from 1.0 wasn't the best.
Individually, the processing to keep meshes and rigs in line while models are in motion doesn't take much at all. But as you apply that to dozens of character models in a given zone, performing exaggerated motion with kneeling while crafting, dances, etc. all at once then it becomes a serious issue. When they designed the engine for 1.0 they didn't consider that, and it had huge impact for players.
