edit:
If this is how it works then I'm happy to keep buying.

Cash shops are a thing, folks just need to get over that. You do you. If you want to spend on the cash shop, it's fine. There's no real moral game at play here from the consumer half, though certainly arguable to be a thing from the providers side.
It's like DLC or patches/updates to games in general (non-content related patches like we see in MMORPGs). People will pre-order (a long standing tradition from way before the internet became a household expectation), they'll pay for Season Pass bundles, they'll buy DLC, they'll buy digital costumes for their characters, etc. That's just how it works today and a cash shop in a sub based MMORPG is no different.

I dont know whats worse; those prices or the fact that people will actually pay that much.
Careful what you wish for![]()
I suppose that's true enough.
I'm not against the cash shop, I should add. I just want XIV to be given more love ;'<
Exactly. That long ass thread about people wanting it, saying they'd pay whatever, gave SE a free pass to charge through the roof. Match, Precedent, Set.

Well you're not wrong...but
Say the game is $60, and the DLC's are like $5/$10 or so on and are just little mini stuff for funsies or some added hours.
We pay $10 ~ $15 a month to keep this game running and the God dang Mog mount for example is ALMOST more than the base game and HW combined.
That's what's pissing me off a bit. It's fluff, sure, but fluff shouldn't be an arm and a leg.
A lot of us want things in events and other stuff, not locked behind a paywall. All I'm saying here.
Can't win when you're being drowned out with flying wallets and now they ranked the prices up a bit.
People really shouldn't be okay with this but eh. Just disappointed is all.
It's just Square Enix in general, I'm unsure if its the "Enix" side involved with increasing profits with such methods but considering what's come out about them I wouldn't be surprised. The latest Dues Ex has micro transactions for in game items in a single player game, FFXV is DLC galore with DLC locked behind retailers and costume DLC, then there's FF7 being split into 3 parts for the remake and so on. Meanwhile you have CD Projekt Red releasing free costumes and minor quests, with a massive expansion far larger than Heavensward for $20! That's right, this costume is apparently valued as much as a full blown expansion pack.Well you're not wrong...but

I'm not one to talk though... I've spent over far too much on Star Citizen ships in the past year, but at least those have massive amounts of work put into them (compare 2x moogle mounts to a Reliant Kore) and I'm funding my dream game in the process.
While this is true it's also not really true to say money ever goes "Into" or "Out" of FFXIV. They have a set budget every year and that's what they use. Unless subscriptions are flagging and they need to pull some emergency funds the "Amazing" sales of any of Square Enix's franchises aren't going to help FFXIV in any obtuse way, they will skim by as small a budget as they feel they can manage and as long as players are willing to throw money at them for things on the cash shop they will in all likelihood factor that into the next budget. Wether that means more team members or just more slack on them wanting to really retain subscribers is a whole other story.

New Items! Same price like the old chinese dress ^^.
