FFXIV donation instead of charging and loosing lots of players?

i know there is a lot of anger going around about charging us in a month or 2 to basically test the game until the huge changes in 2.0 (which itself look AMAZING to say the least)

Im personally upset about it and i know them charging early will pretty much garuntee a huge loss of players which in turn will make the servers feel really empty (and i really dont want that).

So SE, instead of saying "pay now for a new game next year", how about an optional donation system until 2.0 (which by then i will gladly pay) The people who truly support the game and its direction can pay using crysta any amount they want, whenever they want. This way the cough::beta testers::cough don't all leave the servers high and dry and you can still make money (though likey less of course).

anyone else agree? would you donate to the 2.0 cause?

well thats fine, pay a subs amount if you want....thats the beauty of it. If you want to support them, more power to you, but if your like many of us on here, you dont think its smart to charge before a massive re-vamp, yet asking people to pay, they can stay in the game and be happy and pay when the time comes.

I plan on paying the subscription. I want Square-Enix to have money to make Version 2 the best it can be. If my money makes that possible, then that's what needs to be done.

Thats the thing, people wont, but their are people who will. WOuld they rather loose a huge portion of their playerbase and charge, or keep them all intrested until 2.0?

i say it that way because of business point of view. is a business gaming industry, is not a permanent charity.

again, you can do that all you want without killing a good portion of the playerbase now. Pay as much as you want, when you want, or dont pay at all until 2.0. Keeps players in the game so they stay interested until them and people who really think they deserve the money can do so.
