what they are doing is having a large portion of their playerbase stop playing and possibly never come back after a year. Sounds like bad business to me when you have a good chunk still here and almost all willing to pay when its truly up to snuff in the 2.0

so you';re expecting some fan to pay for you. that what i am looking at.again, you can do that all you want without killing a good portion of the playerbase now. Pay as much as you want, when you want, or dont pay at all until 2.0. Keeps players in the game so they stay interested until them and people who really think they deserve the money can do so.
and yes, my bad on the lose/loose thing.

The problem with that is that nobody is going to pay if you don't have to. Like, unless the people who pay get MASSIVE BENEFITS, not many people are going to be that caring. If they did this, it'd just a cash shop MMO, which I do not want at all. People initially bought this game expecting to pay a monthly fee, and were informed by the company that it would be free until further notice. This is that notice. We all knew it was coming. Honestly, whenever they decided to start charging, there would be people who had a problem with it.again, you can do that all you want without killing a good portion of the playerbase now. Pay as much as you want, when you want, or dont pay at all until 2.0. Keeps players in the game so they stay interested until them and people who really think they deserve the money can do so.

And sorry if I came off as a dick about the lose/loose thing. For some reason, that stuff bothers me to no end.

yea ok, i can see where this going anyway, and is not gonna happen.
they give us game and content, its up to us whether the fee is worth or not to experience the "unrepeateable" events in this game.

Wada said they have to charge now. Key word: "have."
So asking them to change it won't get anywhere.

What people don't seem to understand, at least from all the thread I've read is...
They are creating content between now and then to explain what happens to the world geographically when 2.0 hits.
This content will no longer be accessible after 2.0.
By paying the subscription fees between now and then, you are paying to, basically, play the prequel story line that most people will never get to experience themselves.
The devs do not have to spend their time and effort creating this content, which will never be accessible again, they could focus 100% on 2.0 and leave no logical explanation in-game of why the world changes. They have chosen to opt in favor of explaining the world changes with an in-game story, and THAT is what you will be paying a subscription fee for. The game system may be lackluster during this, but, again, you are paying to experience content that no one will ever experience again after 2.0.
I, personally, will be subscribed.

They should just sell vanity items like chocobo armor, mog hats ect till the game is ready to get some income.

Mathmatically it works out like this
X playerbase paying $0.00/mon= $0.00 income per month
(1/n)X playerbase paying $12.00/mo = $12.00(x/n) income per month
In conclusion: $12.00(x/n)/mo > $0.00/mo
No matter how drastically the playerbase falls, any number of subs paying > any number of subs not paying. Theyre planning on winning everyone back with 2.0 anyway so whats it matter. If zero people pay (wont happen) they can just close down the servers, save money, and put 2.0 out faster. For SE any outcome is a win.
