To be honest, I'd say that this is a POSITIVE thing. It helps newbies learn that when you see a monster with the aggressive tag, you need to pay very close attention to its level.

It can also provide something to look forward to. "Wow, look at that thing. One day, I'll be tough enough to actually fight it! I can't wait!"

I can understand irritation if one is actually blocking a quest destination or something - but even in those cases, nine times out of ten you can sneak around it, or even just wait for it to wander around a bit so it's no longer blocking you.

Keep going. In time you will get an A Rank, in a FATE on your mission point.

Said mob also has a level number above them (50, etc..) so good indication of should not go near it if low level, lol

I see a lot of arguments that this "isn't that bad" or "could even be good". I see exactly no upside here. Sure, some MMO vets may be brought back to the days when they had to go to school uphill both ways in the snow, but most people are going to see this for what it is: terrible game design. Randomly screwing new players just trying to do quests is bad, full stop.

To compare it to another Final Fantasy game, FF2 is notorious because if you take a few steps in the wrong direction at the start of the game, you'll get annihilated by high-level monsters. This is actually worse, since you don't even have to stray off the beaten path. There is no upside.

EDIT: And for everyone who is dismissing this because "you can see the mob's level and that it's aggressive, just avoid it!" you seem to be missing/ignoring that these mobs will sometimes spawn directly on quest points, and sometimes you don't even see them. If you're level 10 in Hyrstmill and Girtab is partially obscured behind a tree, you're going to learn he's level 50 at the same time he one-shots you. And he's still going to be there when you come back. But sure, let's expect players who are brand new to the game to know that they can shout for help with hunt mobs. That's totally a solution.

I'd rather not have them make the open world so pathetically 'safe' than it already is when it isn't supposed to be (according to lore at least).

Im not trying to troll here...but you really are making a mole hill into a mountain here.

It really isnt that big of deal. It really isn't. When I was leveling my alts I saw these lvl 50s. They are very rare when you run into them so it's not like they are loitering about picking on the small guys. I stayed away from them. If there were in my way, I would shout their position and it was dead in minutes. It also despawns in about 15 minutes too.

    It's not that bad guys

I kind of like it that they spawn in locations like that. Higher level players should be available and help lower levels in those cases. But then, sometimes I patrol low level zones to help out random players. /shrug

What is with the obsession with making the open world 'unsafe'? How does randomly getting killed because you weren't paying attention for two seconds make a game more enjoyable? Or would you like a return to FFXI, where no one ever fought anything in the open world, just using Sneak and Invisible to avoid everything. And not even because it was necessarily unsafe, half the time just because fights took too long.

And what does 'unsafe' mean anyway? Zones already have appropriately-leveled aggressive mobs which can kill you if you're careless. What do you want, unkillable mobs? Mobs that chase you to the ends of the earth? Again, not seeing any upside here.

Because "it's not that bad guys" is not a good reason to do something. If a stoplight on your way to work randomly decided to stay red for 10 minutes, that's "a minor inconvenience" and "not that bad" but people would rightfully complain until it was fixed.

    you're honestly whining about something:

    a. They will not fix because it's not broken
    b. that REALLY isn't a big deal
    c. can be easily remedied by running around it or telling folks where it is where there is about 100 people dying to kill it.

Like I said, you are making a mole hill into a mountain. You are acting like these lvl A and S ranks are everywhere cramping your style. These mobs are rare. It's not like they are hiding behind every tree and quest giver.

And as I said, if they are in you're way, run around or tell folks where it is. Itll be dead in minutes and the world would thank you for it since there would be seals and tomes to be had.

PS. Eorzea was never a safe open world. Hence why we are warrior of light trying to make it a safer place.
