The game's mobs are pathetically easy. I remember killing mobs 5-7 levels above me as a new player. Being careless is the least of your problems unless you're bad or if you have more than 3 mobs attacking you. Meanwhile Heavensward mobs just have higher HP that it takes long for them to die.
The thrill of danger is what's fun about a world and makes it ideal for a fantasy world full of monsters. The world being too easy is just lame to me.

There's no drawbacks to getting killed anyway, like losing exp.

Also on this topic: my first time to the Churning Mists was met with Bune camping an aether current. It made me approach that aether current very carefully. Any issues with marks spawning at choke points can be 100% solved by the in game community. It's one of the few pieces of open world content that we have. Really wouldn't want to see the random gremlin thrown away.

One of my only memorable experiences outside of scripted events in my early days in eorzea was encountering a magnificent beast.

Let me tell you the story:

Way back when i was a wee lil lvl 13ish Pugilist sprout, i traveled twixt Horizon and and Vesber bay (as you do every so often as a newbie following the story). On my journey i saw something big.

No, not only was it big, it was bloody enormous. Also quite terrifying.

    it was a huuuuge dragon-scorpion-bat.

    it was Zona Seeker.

So there i was, contemplating what to do with my find, so i attempted to attack it.
To everyones big surprise it absolutely wrecked me, smashing my face in the ground.

"No biggie" i thought, knowing that death really only was a minor gil penalty at that point.

So i shouted "Uhh What is Zona Seeker?" and soon enough another player showed up. And then another. And another one. Fairly quickly we were what seemed like a hundred folk, just waiting to kill it.

We engaged it, charging at it with full power. I of course died again.

I like the tougher mobs in low level zones. They no only gives high level players a reason to return to them but also an opportunity to show sprouts how high level players look and act.

And then there was the time Lampy was camping the Gold Ore node. It was really quite amusing to see someone else run up towards the cave and sharply backpedal upon spotting the giant hydra. We had a quick chat, I stealthed to try and sneak in first, they told me to be careful in case Lampy could see through stealth, and we both ended up getting our gold ore just fine. Fine memories and an enjoyable interaction with a random stranger all because an S rank spawned in an "inconvenient location."

    .
And THIS is EXACTLY why we have A and S rank baddies in these zones.

    Thanks for sharing, Enur

Wait...is Lampy a hydra? Can't recall the number of heads at the moment.

you gotta introduce the players to the constant demises they will witness in this game somehow, otherwise they'll be driven insane at endgame...

A ranks (and S ranks especially) are huge and have a giant "LV 50" mark on them. I'm not sure why you thought going near one was a good idea, it's fairly common sense to not go near something that is 40 levels higher than you.

Gotta agree that it isn't a big deal as there's next to no penalty for dying in this game.

For what it's worth I've never seen a new player in Novice Network getting upset about being killed by a hunt mob. At most I see questions about what they are.
