Pulse of Life is the White Mage Three Bar Limit Break so obviously it is our fault for not going everywhere with a group of seven trusted companions at all times. So on page 231 about some skills from the White Mage, we have a explanation about "Pulse of Life"
"The spell channels pure life force from the caster, reviving and restoring even those who have succumbed to fatal injury"
So are you telling me its completely in lore that we can use a spell as a white mage that can even heal someone that is dieing and yet just because you want a character death that the WoL as a white mage cant use it in that situation?
I'm not sure that's exactly how LBs work, lorewise.
Looking at Chimatsuri for example, all it says is that it's using the aether suffusing a battlefield - which probably means a ninja could even do it solo, provided they are able to use the ability in the first place. A similar restriction is put on Final Heaven (though the phrasing: "Cannot be used until the practitioner is prepared to reach beyond mortal limits into the divine" is borderline 4th wall breaking).
In the case of Pulse of Life, it says it draws upon the reserves of all allies present, but it doesn't state any restrictions as to how and when it can be used - so if there are sufficient allies around, yeah, a WHM WoL would be able to use it, with a higher strain put on the allies the less there are to draw from (probably even killing some if there are too few or their aetherial reserves are lacking).
I somehow dont really believe that LB3 has the same functions ingame than it does in the story. Papalymo kinda activated some kind of LB with Yda and they were only two people. Alisae might have taken more time to charge hers but we were also not a full party. And it was already said the description only mentions that you need some other people that you draw from and we had some people with us. (And instead of having to rezz a whole party this was only one person with one wound)
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
From the descriptions I've seen of them (couldn't get a book, so I may be wrong), they require a large amount of ambient aether generated from high-stress situations (i.e. heavy combat) with a bunch of people present (Pulse of Life specifically states it takes aether from manyI somehow dont really believe that LB3 has the same functions ingame than it does in the story. Papalymo kinda activated some kind of LB with Yda and they were only two people. Alisae might have taken more time to charge hers but we were also not a full party. And it was already said the description only mentions that you need some other people that you draw from and we had some people with us. (And instead of having to rezz a whole party this was only one person with one wound)peopleallies in the area to heal them. Not something you can do solo). So a single person really cannot generate an LB3 on their own in any sort of reasonable amount of time, even the WoL.
As far as Yda and Papalymo are concerned...what just happened beforehand, and what were they doing then? It was basically a last-ditch effort to try to buy time and save themselves.
