Clearly you were not listening to Yoshi when he indicated they were plowing profits from FFXIV back into FFXIV.
Yoshi-P announced they'll have TRIPLE the budget for stormblood than they had for HSW. WHat are you even talking about?
To be fair, monthly subs bring little to no money. I mean 15 a month? What will they do with that.
Just because a game has a sub doesn't make it superior .. FFXIV V1 had a sub.
WOW has a sub and few would accuse its' community as "enjoyable", long before you could buy time with in-game currency, which of course you have to sub for some time in order to acquire enough to pay for all your game time.

Top kek.
This announcement actually pleased me greatly. Very happy to seem them finally diverting company funds back into this game, which has been flagging on content delivery and execution for some time now. I just really hope that extra funding doesn't translate into things like "40 high-res CGI cinematics!" and nothing else, lol. Recently, non-MMO FF titles have made me a little paranoid on this front, I guess.
Those arent the only 2 left. There are a handful of others. DAoC is still live with several a decent population for a game that old and still has required Sub. KOTOR has a sub "option", and the game is practically unplayable without it. ACII has a sub and still live. TSW has a sub and still live. Darkfall Unholy Wars requires a sub. DC Universe requires a sub. Here is a full list for your reading pleasure. They are few and far between, but if you look at the games, they are the ones that have the longest legs and the most dedicated player bases regardless of total population.
