Shorter elezen necks

I like my Elezen just the way he is and I don't want Elezens to change. Why alienating the players that like the race and play one?

If they changed them to be more like the other races (which increasing their head size, homogenising their run animation and shortening their necks is ultimately doing, even if the ears and long body are still unique) then I'd switch to Au Ra or Roe; I specifically don't want to look more 'normal'. But I would rather stay Elezen, because big-headed, short-necked race options already exist for everyone else to choose. I'm sorry to hear that it means that Norleas can't play as an Elezen the way they currently are, but by the same token I wouldn't want to play as a female Miqo'te without some design changes. And I think that's ok, because both are options openly available to us in character creation.

(Female Elezen are beautiful the way they are too. It's ok to be less than perfectly proportioned by modern human standards, and I wouldn't want them to be changed.)

If I am correct the OP is asking for the option to pick an Elezen with shorter neck (since she/he mentions the PS3, I am guessing she/he is talking about expanding the Character Creation option), why are people against it? People that want to play as the current Elezen can stay the same and those that prefer to have shorter neck, can use the character creation tool to decrease (or increase) the neck of the Elezen.

If OP is asking to remove the current Elezen and replace it with one that he or she likes (shorter necks), then I have to agree with those that said: NO!

I had the impression it was the latter since it was about sweeping graphical changes, and I believe the 'PS3 restrictions' are for client-side issues while the limitation on the number of character creation options is a server restriction and unlikely to change any time soon. It felt weird to see someone playing a character of a race/gender combination that is (forgive me) rather round-headed and short-necked complaining about my preferred combination being too different to that.

If I'm wrong and if it's technically possible, I have no particular qualms with adding extra face options in future (for all races) as the more diversity in faces, the better the game is for everyone! However I wouldn't really like them to make the options so divergent that players with 'classic' Elezen looked like a completely different race to those with the new, cuter-looking versions. A future option in an expansion to play as something closer to Alphinaud/Alisaie could be interesting even if I'm sticking with my gangly yaoi-handed fully-grown Duskwight forever.

I assume you're referencing the females, given your avatar. Female Au Ra are basically every anime highschool girl ever.

Yeah, I meant the females^^ I also play a male alt, but he has such a crazy mane, anything from the middle of his back upwards is just hair anyway..xD



After I noticed how ridiculous the neck looked, I stared at real people on the bus more intently :x
Wanted to see if I was just imagining things (and it maybe was actually fairly realistic and just the scales threw my perception off or something) but.
The neck is longer than the entire head (or at least the same length)! No matter how I look at it, about half of that would be normal..



It's not as extreme as with Elezen because their heads are so small and it makes the whole issue a lot more obvious, while Au Ra can just hide the neck with a myriad of fairly long hairstyles,
but I am convinced by now that the giraffe neck is a general problem SE easily falls into.

Personally I would like to see a rework of some of the animations. The running one is pretty bad in my opinion, no offense meant, just my honest opinion and is probably why I've never created an elf alt.

Genuine question. I've heard this for a long time but I've never really understood; why is the Elezen running animation so strongly disliked? I run all the time and think my character looks cool :<

They're not elves though. They're elezen. Ok, we all know that they're based on the same idea but they're explicitly not the same thing and 'actual' elves don't exist in Eorzea.

Playable half-elezen would be a nice compromise for people who want more human-looking elezen. I don't personally like Hilda visually, but if they can overlook the issue with male miqo'te supposedly being rare I'm sure half-elezen would be just as feasible. And kind of low effort for them to implement in a future expansion.

Change all our Elezen character models to Highlanders with pointy ears? Sounds great, and while we're at it I'd like to propose some more changes:

- Modify all gear to have long sleeves and pants on Au Ra characters; some people think scales look weird and don't want to see them.
- Roegadyn only allowed to be a specific, soothing shade of pale blue, to calm down other players who might feel threatened by their height.
- Female Miqo'te become permanently invisible, solving that common complaint of seeing too many catgirls everywhere.
- Add bunny ears to all Hyur, so people will stop complaining they're "just boring humans" and also, stop asking for Viera. Two for one!
- Lock out tank and physical DPS classes for Lalas, in case they break someone's immersion.
