Trope seen in most manga and anime where hands are drawn proportionally way too large for the rest of the body, usually belonging to the dominant males.
To extrapolate, most yaoi is drawn by amature/dojin artists that just aren't... Very good at this art thing yet, or have a crap budget to work with. Thus, the sub-genre's infamous proportion issues, with giant hands being the most notable.
It's to the point where you can eyeball a manga with purposefully giant handed men and know it's yaoi or boys love.
The more you know~~

I'm not even that disturbed by the size, you can just trick yourself into thinking it is the perspective with the hand being a lot closer than the owner of the hand.
But WHY does it have so many knuckles. Why are there 3 joints per finger?! It looks like a spider somehow T_T
On the actual topic of this thread:
I think the Elezen necks are fine. Well, not anatomically right-looking, okay. But every race needs their little pet peeve, like the Miqo butts and the Elezen necks and Au Ra's horn-face lock, so..
What I'm more weirded out by is the length of my Au Ra's neck, because that makes no goddamn sense at all for it to be so long too °-°

I find the Au Ra male necks to be perfectly proportioned. They don't seem too long or too short to me. However, I assume you're referencing the females, given your avatar.
I think one could say their necks look off because they are designed to look like a generic anime highschool girl. Larger head, skinnier neck, default pose causes feet to point inward, shorter stature. Female Au Ra are basically every anime highschool girl ever.
But in the case of males, every time i think about making an Elezen male i end up going Au Ra instead, as they are just more proportionally pleasant.

Yeah, I meant the females^^ I also play a male alt, but he has such a crazy mane, anything from the middle of his back upwards is just hair anyway..xD
After I noticed how ridiculous the neck looked, I stared at real people on the bus more intently :x
Wanted to see if I was just imagining things (and it maybe was actually fairly realistic and just the scales threw my perception off or something) but.
The neck is longer than the entire head (or at least the same length)! No matter how I look at it, about half of that would be normal..
It's not as extreme as with Elezen because their heads are so small and it makes the whole issue a lot more obvious, while Au Ra can just hide the neck with a myriad of fairly long hairstyles,
but I am convinced by now that the giraffe neck is a general problem SE easily falls into.

it's a shame we can't do not have the face option for aymeric.
