Russian language in game sounds cool, but there some buts. This game is one hard to translate. And problem is not a scenario, its NAMES. Places, Items, etc. Things like "Prototype Alexandrian Hood of Casting" will sound stupid in Russian.

We have some other FF games translations, but they all crap. In them, chocobos doing "quack" noises like ducks, instead of "Kweh", Ramuh translated as "Рамух" instead of "Раму". In FFIV they dont even bothered themselves with translating main characters names - they just left them written in English. I dont want such thing for this wonderful game.

My point is that they need a team of really good translators, who can work with all 4 ingame languages. This will help to find a most appropriate translation of names. They should also know the lore of FF series, and have enough time to research some questions in fan community (like, use -ra,-ga,-ja or I,II,III,IV for spell names). And such team is not easy to find.

Cant say about French or German, but in Japanese they use katakana a lot. So, "Prototype Alexandrian Hood of Casting" will be "プロトアレキ・キャスターフード" (Puroto Areki Kyasutaa Fuudo). Or "Glamour Prism: Clothcraft" will be "ミラージュプリズム:ニードルワーク" (Miraaju Purizumu: Nidooruwooku). Many names sounds almost the same as English version.

When I think of things like that being translated into my own language, it sounds stupid to me too. In fact, I often feel like things that were originally in English and are translated to my own language sound stupid. I don't know why. Maybe English just inherently makes everything sound cooler? XD

Translated: Alexandrian Hood of Magic (Prototype)

To the rest of the people could not enjoy the game in their native language? Or are you someone with a gun at the head will be forced to play it in Russian? Such people as you call - selfish.
I'm selfish for not wanting to pay extra money for something I don't want? Okay then.
I don't play on Steam (didn't know they had FFXIV) so I pay more than I could've and it's already a lot for me. Paying even more for something I never asked for? No, thank you.

As someone already said in this thread - game is originally on all 4 languages. Ofc every language has it's own stuff we can hardly translate. But from what I've seen already in Russian localizations - they always make jokes and other things not funny and some things can even lose sense sometimes. If they can somehow pull it off then sure but good luck with that.

I don't care if this happens, I can simply switch to English and not bother. But what really bothers is that he wants us to pay extra for something not everyone wants. USD and EUR exchange rate to RUB is crazy right now and current sub is already a pain to pay.

By the way, there is another replacement idea.
It is possible to add new language to the game, can cause some difficulties.
In the game there is a relaxation room. This room contains storage, a bed, and diary assignments. In this diary kept videos the story quests and their description. Good idea, if you add the translation of the quests in this diary. Players will be able to read the quests after their passage and fully understand the whole meaning. The game will be the 4 basic language, it will allow you to avoid a lot of work on the translation of the game. Players will have the opportunity to understand the story in their own language.
This choice will help to start to translate the game into other languages, with less resource cost. The main thing that will start the gradual translation of the game, which can be completed full translation at minimal cost.
The main demand for translation appears because of the incomplete understanding of narrative stories and other interesting quests.
