Isn't wow and FFXIV just tab target tho? The animations in wow don't matter cause the damage isn't from the animations, it's from numbers being counted or whatever. The animation is simply there for looks. It's a dice roll. As far as I know FFXIV is abit different but still uses tab targeting. So wouldn't you have to change THAT before anything else? How would such an frenetic action based system work for tanks, healers, mages, rangers, or supports?

I mean, that kind of gameplay has merit, for sure, but it just sounds like it would push out a gigantic chunk of players from FFXIV by breaking their roles.
