PC version won't update launcher for 3.4?! :(

Do you think this launcher problem will be fixed later today? I'm not installing anything or changing any of my settings, this usually leads to far bigger problems than not being able to play. I'm still a new user, not sure how SE usually handle this.

Make sure you get the client + plug in. I had the same issue, because I downloaded the client only.

Download client + plugin ( one download ), then follow instructions on page. When you choose a server to connect to, choose the top server on the list. It was Japan for me, as the US servers I picked all failed to download. Once you are connected to the server, launch FFXIV. You should have a small download, but it took about 10 minutes for me. Once that download is completed, log out of the VPN completely. Close FFXIV launcher, then open it back up and you should be able to download another patch.

Thanks a lot, guys, but downloading the whole game again would take me hours and I just installed/patched it three days ago. I tried MrDanger's workaround and it didn't fix it, so I guess I'll just wait for the devs to do something about it.

i was havin the same problems i got to about 525 MB, then error pop up.

i tried all the non VPN solutions here, still a no go.

put in a support ticket, but yeah, don't feel like waitin round for a reply.

so i tried the VPN, it worked but was slow, like 10 hours + slow. i remembered that at points the launcher will save progress of the download. so i let it get to about 1050 MB. Canceled the download, shut down launcher, disconnected and shut down VPN, restarted launcher on my normal connection and BINGO!!! it saved the progress and continued downloadin.

i think it may hangs at a certain amount and the launcher saves it somehow, at least that what it seems like to me. i'm thinkin if ya can use the VPN long enough to get it past your hang point ya can manually cancel, shutdown Launcher and VPN. then restart with your normal settings.

Not sure if this problem is related but.. I can't find a working solution anywhere.

When I run the launcher now, it's just a black window with the launcher version at the top. which is 2016.9.12 etc etc. Did the launcher update break something? Is that even the most recent launcher version?

I found some old info from over the years of this problem but none of the solutions (resetting IE, resetting router, removed router etc) have solved it. Also tried this "BootVersionCheckMode" thing and nothing changes.
